Young goalkeeper with FCK past joins AB
Albert Gaub-Jakobsen moves from Vanløse and joins the AB goalkeeping team on a contract until summer 2025. While several of AB’s profiles extend their contracts, 20-year-old goalkeeping talent Albert Gaub-Jakobsen will join the club in January. Gaub-Jakobsen has a past as a U-19 goalkeeper at FC Copenhagen and has most recently impressed for Vanløse’s team in the 3rd division. “I’m very happy and a little surprised,” says Albert Gaub-Jakobsen, who will have a contract until summer 2025. “I had a good six months in Vanløse, but it’s really cool that a traditional club like AB wants me. It’s a really good place to show myself off at a top team in the 2nd division. Head coach Patrick Braune is looking forward to Albert Gaub-Jakobsen becoming part of the goalkeeping group at the club. “He’s a young goalkeeper who has been at FCK, Amager Academy and Vanløse, where he has done well. We look forward to seeing if we can unfold his talent,” says Braune. Albert Gaub-Jakobsen got his football education at FC Copenhagen, where he was part of the U-19 squad. He was in the starting line-up for the U-19 team in the final games of 2020, and Gaub-Jakobsen managed to train with FC Copenhagen’s Superliga team for a few weeks that winter before an injury halted his development. A stay at Amager Academy was exchanged for a position in Vanløse’s 3rd division team this past fall. Here, Albert Gaub-Jakobsen impressed on a Vanløse team that was solidly in fourth place in the 3rd division at the turn of the year. That’s why AB has now made a move and signed him on a 2.5-year contract. “I want to get in and get playing time, but I’m the best player and I have to accept it if I’m not. Then I have to train hard every week and help the team in the best possible way,” says the 20-year-old goalkeeper.
