When the whistle is blown on Friday evening at 19:00 in Sundby Idrætspark for the match between Fremad Amager and AB Gladsaxe, it will also be number one and two who face each other in the 2nd division.
Number one, Fremad Amager, has 13 points and AB is in second place with 11 points. It can hardly get more exciting.
Last Friday, Fremad defeated Amager Nykøbing FC with 2–0 in Nykøbing. AB played a draw 1 –1 at home at Gladsaxe Stadium against Thisted FC.
The last time AB was in Sundby, it was not a great experience for the AB supporters. DIt was a bitterly cold evening, it was raining, it was April 1st and AB went home to Gladsaxe with a 1-0 defeat.
Fremad Amager has Hans Høllsber in quarantine for the match.
Both teams have been in action in the Oddset Cup on Thursday this week. Fremad Amager are through in the cup after a true thriller against Nykøbing FC in Nykøbing. It was a match that Fremad Amager won 7–6 after extra time and penalties. Things went somewhat quieter in Holbæk, where Holbæk B&I defeated AB with 2- 0.
The responsibility for leading the top match fairly and smoothly is placed in the hands of referee Kasper Madsen and to help him, he has Simon Blond and Jan Johansen on the lines.
Rasmus Brodersen is looking forward to the top match against Fremad Amager, and he believes that with more cynicism, a victory can be secured.
“It’s always fun to play top matches. We have to fight for the logo and we have to go up to 1st place again. We have put in some good performances and we are disappointed that we did not get all three points last weekend. I think our performance, especially in the 1st half, was for more. So we have to show more cynicism against Fremad Amager, and then I’m sure we’ll get the win.”
“We have to go over the steppes and create a lot of chances and build on the good game. It has been a good week of training, there is a good mood in the squad and belief in things. So it’s a shame with the cup match on Tuesday – but it was also some good lessons”, concludes Rasmus Broderen.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson sees positive elements and that the performances are gradually getting better and better.
“Fremad Amager has done really well so far this season. They have won many games, especially at home, so we have to be ready for a tough away game. We are very happy with our performances in the last two games. We are gradually getting better and better. In the last game we got a draw, but we had a lot of chances to score a lot of goals.”
“When we make so many chances, we also have to score the goals. Against Thisted we had the chances and built up well in the 1st half and in the 2nd half we had opportunities. We had chances to 2-0, so we could have closed the game. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen, and they scored a really good goal,” says Gudjonsson.
The head coach continues and emphasizes that the team and the players are moving in the right direction.
“There are no guarantees in football, so we have to keep working hard all the time. Fremad Amager is a team with physical and fast players, and they want to play behind us. Their back line is physical and they have an experienced goalkeeper. There are also weaknesses in the team, and we have to find and challenge them. We must stop them in their games and prevent them from getting started. They are good at free kicks, so we have to play our way out of it so that we avoid free kicks close to our goal.”
“We are gradually becoming a team that is difficult to beat. We have become much more dangerous in our attacking play with a lot of talent and speed. We are moving in the right direction and the atmosphere is good. Everyone works hard, they enjoy what they do , and that’s important,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
