Then it’s Thisted before the break

Tomorrow, Saturday 16 November 2024, AB Gladsaxe will set off on the longest away trip to Thisted FC in North Jutland. It is also the last game before the winter break. The tournament starts up again on Saturday 8 March 2025 at home against BK Frem, after which there are six matches remaining in the regular season.

Referee Patrick Remon Gammelholm kicks off the match at 15.30 at Sparekassen Thy Arena. For this exciting and important clash for both teams, he has Henrik Hansen and Aiden Esmaeli on the lines to help him ensure that the match is played to everyone’s satisfaction.

AB will follow up on last weekend’s great and deserved 2-0 victory over the top team Fremad Amager at Gladsaxe Stadium. Thisted FC lost their last match with 3-2 at Middelfart Stadion against Middelfart.

AB has Christian Wagner, Rasmus Brodersen, August Hlynsson, O’Vonte Mullings in quarantine, so the coaching staff will have to shake things up when it comes to finding the starting line-up. But it is certain that it is a competitive team that runs on the track in Thisted.

The last match between the two teams ended 1-1 at Gladsaxe Stadium in early September. AB’s goal was scored by Christian Wagner. It was a game where AB created a lot of chances, but unfortunately also burned many of them. It was also a game where the AB players after the game were annoyed that they did not lead by two or three goals already at the break. Also part of the story is that it was actually Thisted who pressed at the end of the game and also wasted some chances.

The stage is set for an exciting match and, as is usually the case between the two teams, also an even match.
The two teams are also close to each other in the table. AB is number 9 with 18 points, Thisted FC is number 10 with 17 points.

Marco Ramkilde sees Thisted as a slightly different team to play against: “It will be a game where we can definitely go up and press and stress them in their play. Hopefully it creates some chances for us. I also think that Thisted is a team that is good at creating chances offensively. They are good at getting their full-backs up, so we have to be aware of that as well.
Thisted plays a little differently than most other teams. They play with five at the back with wingbacks. It will give us some space, but so will other things we need to be aware of. So these are some of the things that have been a bit of focus during the week. It has been a week that has been characterized by good mood, not least after several weeks of frustration, where the points have not been as good as it was against Fremad Amager – so it was a redemptive victory.”

Coach, Joey Gudjonsson, emphasizes that the team must do what they are good at and not so much look at what Thisted can do: “Tomorrow is the trip to North Jutland and it is the longest bus trip we are going on. It has been a good week of training in good weather since the last game, and we have had a good preparation for the match against Thisted. The most important thing for us is to continue the good effort and energy that we had in the last game. There we saw that if we do what we are good at both defensively and with the ball, then we can beat any team in this league. We will approach the game in the same way and we have to match their physique.
It’s a difficult place to play, but we will do the same regardless of whether we play at home or away. We have to work together and take the initiative and show the same game as in the last game.
It is important for us to end the autumn in a good way and we are going to Thisted to take home the three points”.

When the player bus leaves Skovdiget on Saturday morning at 7.50 am, the following players will be on the bus:
16 Albert Gaub-Jacobsen (goalkeeper)
1 Marcus Bobjerg (goalkeeper)
2 Yael Liesdek
