Then it’s off to Falster

Tomorrow, Friday 9 August 2024, AB Gladsaxe will travel to Falster, where Nykøbing FC will take on.
The match will be played at Lolland Bank Park and the match referee Nicki Nordlund Hansen will blow the whistle for the match at 19.00.

AB will follow up on last week’s season debut against Næstved, which ended 1-1 after an approved AB effort. Even though it’s an away game, we’re going to see an AB team that is going for the win.

Nykøbing FC did not get off to a good start with their season, as the team lost 4-0 to Elsinore in Elsinore. However, part of the story is that Nykøbing FC’s Jonathan Pank Iversen received the red card already after 38 minutes of play. Jonathan is therefore suspended against AB.
The last time AB played at Lollands Bank Park was at the end of April and there it was a 1-0 victory on an incredibly nice long-shot goal from Darren Sidoel.

After Friday’s practice, captain Daniel A. Pedersen said:

“We go to Nykøbing to win the match. We have to build on the performance we did at home last week. It wasn’t perfect, but the game laid a good foundation for something we can build on. There are things we can do better. Especially in the final third, where we can become more dangerous. We have to make the right races and make the right decisions. We have to go down and attack the game, and we don’t have to bet on a draw. We have to play to get home with 3 points – that’s the only focus we have”.

Head coach Joye Gudjonsson gave the match these words along the way:

“Right after the last game, I felt we should have won. We did a lot of good things, and Næstved got a lucky goal. When I look at the game a few days later, we did really well. Næstved is a good team, and they made it difficult for us. I’m pleased that we got back into the game and equalised. We dominated the last 20 minutes, but we didn’t create enough chances.

In the match against Nykøbing, we will build on the things that we did really well. We focus on our own strengths, and will use them against Nykøbing. We will control the match with and without the ball. We go into the fight with confidence in ourselves.

I would like more quality to be shown in and around the box. We need to have a little more structure in our attacking play and play the ball into the right areas, then the goals will also come. We have to work hard, because it’s not easy to score a goal. Several right things must be done both with and without the ball before a chance can be created to finish on goal. We focus on creating space and on finding their weaknesses. We have to keep our agreements, play the ball in the right areas and get our players into the right areas so we can score goals.”
