After Wednesday’s magical cup night with the victory over Vejle Boldklub, it is once again a battle for three points. AB will face FC Roskilde tomorrow, Saturday 4 November at 19:00. NOTE: The match will be played in Gentofte Sportspark Vest, Ved Stadion 10, 2820 Gentofte, due to the condition of the pitch at Gladsaxe Stadium after Wednesday’s fantastic cup victory.
You can still buy tickets for the match right here.
The first meeting between the two teams back in early September ended with a 2-0 victory for FC Roskilde in Roskilde Sports Park. It was a game where AB worked hard with lots of energy, but never really got to sit down on the game and often played with too many long balls. FC Roskilde is in 3rd place with 25 points before Saturday’s game. AB is in 6th place with 18 points.
So it’s a very important game for both teams. FC Roskilde is playing to hold on to the top and at the fun end of the table. AB is playing to maintain its place in the Top-6.
AB has used the time since the cup match on Wednesday to recover from the physically very demanding match with extra time on a very rainy pitch.
FC Roskilde drew last weekend at home against Brabrand. AB won 1-0 in Thisted. AB has Ibrahim Doumbia in quarantine. FC Roskilde have Marco and Valdemar Montell in quarantine for the match.
The match will be refereed by Sebastian Tornhøj Nielsen.
Head coach David Roufpanah is looking forward to the match: “There has been full focus on recovery after the tough game against Vejle. The players who have not been in the game or did not play as much on Wednesday have trained. We have looked at all the positives that we did in the match. We have had tactical preparation for the match against Roskilde. We didn’t play a good game last time against Roskilde. We came with low energy, and I think it was a game where we didn’t play the way we want to play. Now we look forward and we come from two good games with lots of energy. We have shown that we can play both on good pitches and on bad pitches. It’s November and the pitches are heavy, so we have to play according to the conditions. We have trained well and we are in a good position physically. We still have three games in the tournament and two cup games before the winter break. We will play the three games as if they were cup finals. We have played many matches where we are developing, but also matches where we get good lessons because we do not get to play the way we want. I think we have learned a lot from the games and the mistakes we have made. We have learned to play together and learned to follow our tactical plan. There are no games that are the same for 90 minutes, so we have to be flexible. We are working on a project and are still in a process where we are developing. There is still a lot to do – but we are completely ready for the fight against Roskilde”.
Winger Rasmus Brodersen says: “It will be a great match against Roskilde after a very, very nice week. A super strong result in the cup match on Wednesday. We have something to prove compared to our last game against Roskilde, where we didn’t deliver as we should. Both our game and our identity we have to change. We have to play against a top team that has done really well, but we have to win”.
