The table never lies!
AB Gladsaxe won today 2-1 over Thisted FC at Gladsaxe Stadium. These were important points in their efforts to get into the promotion playoffs. It looks really good, but mathematically it’s not there yet. There are 5 games (+ 3 points against Jammerbugt) left after the winter break before the playoffs kick off. At the time of writing, AB has 35 points in second place – as does Esbjerg, but they have a game in hand against Thisted FC on Wednesday. So AB will overwinter either second or third in the table. The table never lies – especially when you look at the performances in the last few games. Six wins in a row – that’s a performance out of the ordinary! Emil Mygind sends after 60 min. Emil Mygind sends the ball into the goal for 1-0 after a corner kick and a little mess in the box. After 75 minutes Mican Atici goes into the box and is brought down. The penalty kick is once again converted into a goal by Frederik Ellegaard to lead 2-0. 84 min. Mikkel Agger reduces the lead for Thisted FC with a great goal. Final score 2-1 to AB. AB took control of the match from the start and pushed Thisted back on the pitch. There were several good attempts from the AB players, but not enough to get on the scoreboard in the 1st half. Thisted FC didn’t offer much, but were dangerous in their quick conversions. AB were cash-rich and played with discipline and got the match over on their own skills. The team named Marcus Hørbye as the best player of the match. He was thrown into the match after Anton Basbas was substituted after 36 min. had to be substituted. A more than acceptable substitution! Marcus Hørbye said after the match: “I felt the match was a bit messy when I came on. We had a bit of trouble holding on to the ball. In the second half we got more play and held on to the ball better. Just like in the other games this fall, we just have cynicism in both fields. We had good control of Thisted FC, who had some dangerous throw-ins, but otherwise didn’t threaten us. In the end they try to put pressure on us. But I was completely calm and felt that we had it under control. It was great when the referee blew the whistle and we got another three points. It’s great that we won the game and great that we’ve had such a fantastic fall,” Marcus concludes. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune: “We knew what kind of match we were in for. We felt well-prepared, so the coincidences that are at this time of year come to us. We’re very pragmatic and cynical in our approach to the game. So we put our own skills into play. It was a really good game from our side. We’ve just got a dynamic and a heart in this team. There’s so much character and that’s what carries it all.” The team will train until December 5, 2022, after which they will go on a well-deserved vacation.
