The promotion battle opens against Aarhus Fremad

The first leg of the promotion play-off for AB Gladsaxe will be played tomorrow, Saturday 19 April 2025 at 14:00 at Gladsaxe Stadium.

The opponent is Aarhus Fremad, who now come to Gladsaxe Stadium just a week after last Saturday’s match between the two teams. Here, as you know, the match ended with a victory for Aarhus Fremad of 3-1 at Riisvangen Stadium.

Despite the defeat, AB is playing in the promotion playoffs, because the other results were in AB’s favour. AB starts the ten games in the promotion play-offs in sixth place. Aarhus Fremad takes first place.

It will be interesting to see which of the teams has learned the most from last week’s match. In the regular season, it was a victory for each of the teams, as AB won the first leg in August at Gladsaxe Stadium.

There are ten exciting matches in the coming time, and it is important to get off to a good start. Therefore, support is needed for the team again, so AB can get into the fun end of the promotion playoffs.

Neither team has players in quarantine.

The referee of the match is Nicki Nordlund Hansen and on the lines run Sidsel Fabricius Dall and Emil Laursen.

Rasmus Brodersen wants revenge and believes that the home ground is difficult for the opponents to play on:

“We are looking forward to getting the top six off to a bang. We have to go beyond the steppes, because we have to take revenge compared to last Saturday’s game in Aarhus Fremad. We can beat Aarhus Fremad, especially at home, because we are really difficult to play against.”

“The mood and atmosphere have been good, because it was a sub-goal to get into the top six. There are now ten games ahead of us, and we take one game at a time.”

“We believe that if we can get off to a good start in the promotion game, then many victories await. We have to work stinking hard in every game, then the points will come – and then we will see how far it takes us”, concludes Rasmus Brodersen.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson emphasizes the quality of the squad.

“Tomorrow we meet Aarhus Fremad in the promotion playoffs. It has always been our goal to get into the promotion playoffs, especially after the start of the season. We didn’t win enough games and we played a lot of draws.”

“The start of 2025 was good for us, we developed as a team and became much better offensively. That’s what we want to stand for and the way we want to play, especially when we play at home.”

“We were not ourselves in Aarhus last weekend. We were passive, afraid of making mistakes and didn’t move forward enough. That’s not how we want to play – we want to play our own game and let the opponents adapt to what we do instead of being passive and maybe being afraid of losing the game.”

That’s not the mindset we want. We will go to all matches to win them and be positive. There is great quality in the squad, and we have many really good players. We have to be confident in what we do – and then we will go out to every game with great belief in ourselves,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.
