AB Gladsaxe played against FC Helsingør on Friday night at Gladsaxe Stadium. The match was attended by 504 spectators, and AB won 2-0 on penalties, which Christian Wagner scored, while O’Vonte Mullings increased to 2-0, which was the result of the match against a strong FC Helsingør team.
AB’s Adrien Koudelka celebrated his 50th match anniversary today, but that did not stop him from playing a good match.
AB lined up with Marcus Bobjerg on goal. In central defence, Adrien Koudelka played, Mikkel Brund and Daniel A. Pedersen had been relegated to central defence. In The left side of the defense played Rasmus Brodersen and on the right side of defense Yael Liesdek. In the central midfield were Søren Ilsøe and Ægir Jarl Jonasson, who had moved further back compared to the last few games. On the edge lay A Gúst Hlynsson and in Francewere O’Vonte Mullings and Marco Ramkilde, who thereby made his debut in the green jersey.
At halftime, substitutions were made, and Christian Wagner replaced Marco Ramkilde and Frederik Lindgaard replaced Yael Liesdek. During the 2nd half, Pachanga Kristensen came on the field and replaced Mikkel Brund, who unfortunately had to retire with an injury. Flamur Dzelili replaced O’Vonte Mullings and Darren Sidoel replaced Agust Hlynsson.
From the start of the match, AB pressed well and set up the game in FC Helsingør’s half of the field. AB stood well on the pitch and played with good and fast combinations. FC Helsingør also had their attack, which was especially built up on their right side.
Both teams played cash and the match referee had to pocket to pick up yellow cards 5 times in the 1st half, and that was perhaps just on the high side.
AB played their way to several and good finishes, but both free kicks from Rasmus Brodersen and a shot from Agust Hlynsson both ended up over the goal.
FC Helsingør also had a couple of finishes, and one of the finishes was averted by AB right in front of goal. Marco Ramkilde was – seen from the outside – fouled in the box, but the referee gave him a warning for film instead of penalty. AB had some periods where FC Helsingør took chances and also created chances on transitions. AB lost the rhythm of the game and occasionally fell into playing with long balls across the middle. The half ended 0-0, which must be said to have been a fair score.
2 minutes into the 2nd half, Agust Hlynsson broke through FC Helsingør’s penalty area and was brought down. The referee awards a penalty kick and at the same time gives FC Helsingør’s D. Kassekar the second yellow card and thus a red. Christian Wagner scores safely on the penalty kick to lead 1-0.
After the sending off and the lead, AB sat more and more on the game and had full control of the game.
O’Vonte Mullings was dangerous up front. After 75 minutes, Agust Hlynsson, who throughout the game was very well-playing and energetic, captured the ball and played Ægir Jarl Jonasson, who with a fantastic and precise pass over a great distance plays O’Vonte Mullings, who sprints towards goal and safely scores to 2-0.
After the game, Daniel A. Pedersen said: “Mega nice with a win today. We knew it was an important game. I think we did well. There are also some difficult periods in the match, but I think we are strong against also in the periods where we make small mistakes and where they become dangerous, especially in the 1st half.
I don’t think it was so much their merit. I think it was more that it was ourselves who made some mistakes that made them come through. It was also a work victory.
It was important to continue the victory in the cup match on Tuesday. I know it was against a lower-ranked team, but it’s also important that we manage to win two games in a row.
There is a big game waiting for next Friday, so it was also nice to take three points from here. Three points on a Friday makes the weekend more fun, and so you can sit and watch football for the rest of the weekend.”
Head coach Joye Gudjonsson followed up: “We thought that our last home game against Næstved was good, so we wanted to build on and also appear aggressive and difficult to beat today. We played at the right end of the pitch and we made some good chances. We were in good positions and could have scored more goals than we did. But the most important thing is that it was a really good team performance and we kept a clean sheet.
That’s what we’ve been working on so far, because we think we have a talented squad and a good mix of players, so we can do well. We also have to do the little things right, and we did that today, so I really think we deserved the win.”
The next match will be played on Friday 23 August 2024 at 19:00 at Gladsaxe Stadion against Aarhus Fremad. Admission is free for citizens in Gladsaxe. Remember to pick up a ticket at www.boldbillet and bring your health card so you can show it at the entrance.
