Strong play secured victory in test against Hvidovre

AB Gladsaxe played today against Hvidovre IF in the first training match after the winter break.

AB started with Marcus Bobjerg in goal, in central defense were Adrien Koudelka and Pachanga Kristensen. On the left side of the defense Rasmus Brodersen, and on the right side of defense Mikkel Nielsen.
In the central midfield, Søren Ilsøe and Agust Hlynsson. On the left wing was newcomer Casper Grening. Steven Simpson on the right wing. The offensive spots were taken by another new player, Noah Engell Christensen, together with Marco Ramkilde.

The game ended in a 3-0 victory on goals scored by Marco Ramkilde, Casper Grening and on penalties Onesime Tembe.

It was a well-played match between two teams who wanted to play football. AB started from the first second in an energetic and high pressure, and time and time again played the ball quickly and high up in Hvidovre’s half of the field. The midfield was well manned with Søren Ilsøe and Agust Hlynsson. AB quickly got a grip on the game and drove the ball around in quick combinations.

After 20 minutes, Marco Ramkilde scored to make it 1-0 after a good cross in the box. Shortly after, Hvidovre’s striker Simon Makienok came high up and headed to the ball, but AB’s defense stood well and cleared the ball.

After 28 minutes, Casper Grening increased the lead to 2-0 after good play with quick deliveries across and a really good finish. Steven Simpson also showed that he is a man for a good shot, but Hvidovre’s goalkeeper, Filip Djukic, was ready.

AB went to the break with a well-deserved lead of 2-0.

After the break, several seats were replaced. Albert Gaub-Jakobsen took the goal and Yael Liesdek, Yushi Yamaya, Onesime Tembe, Christian Wagner, Frederik Lindgaard, Noah Ibsen and O’Vonte Mullings came on the field. Unfortunately, Christian Wagner had to leave the field again after a hard tackle.

In the 2nd half, the intensity was not as high, but the game was still energetic and well-considered play. Yushi Yamaya sent several good crosses from the edge and into the box, but they were not converted into goals.

Hvidovre got a great chance after a quarter of an hour of play, but luckily Albert Gaub-Jakobsen had a world-class save. Christian Wagner also tried with a shot from distance, but unfortunately the ball went past. Hvidovre had the ball more in the 2nd half, and they came up with several finishes, which were not dangerous.

AB got a quick changeover, and Tobias “Spacey” Hageltorn drove the ball forward and played Onesime Tembe, who reached into the box, where he was felled. The referee awarded a penalty, and Onesime Tembe took care of the penalty himself, which converted the goal to 3-0.

Defender Noah Ibsen lost a step, and was forced to give a free kick to Hvidovre. The free kick was shot into the box, where a Hvidovre player tipped the ball with his heel towards goal, but Albert Gaub-Jakobsen was ready to grab the ball. In the final phase, Hvidovre had several corner kicks, which did not lead to any change on the scoreboard.

After the game, the newcomer, Noah Engell Christensen, said that it was good to have some match practice to supplement the first time in the team.

“It’s great to be on the pitch again and play my first game in AB. I’ve trained with the boys, but you train to play a match, so it was nice to be there today. It was easy to play with them and they helped me well on my way. I think it was a really good 1st half, where I could also be myself, even though I don’t know everyone yet. It’s the small relationships that we build up just as quietly.”

“I’ve been waiting a few weeks and looking forward to starting. Now I’m happy that I’m in it and enjoying it very much,” concludes Noah Engell Christensen.

Head coach Joey Gudjonsson was very pleased with the match.

“It was a good game and there are a lot of good things we can take with us. Good attacking play, and we built the game up well. It was good to see how Noah Engell Christensen, Marco Ramkilde and Casper Grening found each other and played well together, yes, Casper even scored a goal.”

“It was really good to see that the continuity and the game that we built up before the winter break, it sticks and we can build on from here. It is clear that we all believe in it and that we will fight hard. We also played against a good team today and we deserved to win. We could even have scored more goals, but we wanted to stay focused on the defensive tasks. All in all, it was a good game and all players got minutes in their legs,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

The next friendly match will be played on Friday 17 January at 11:00 away against HB Køge.
