On Tuesday, AB A/S appointed Sofie Brandi Petersen as the new CEO of the club.
Danish Petersen has experience in consulting and investing in companies, and has previously worked in sports and as marketing director. She will be the first woman to lead AB A/S.
Petersen has previous experience with football – where she has, among other things, advised a strategic consulting firm that provides services to football clubs in the UK.
Petersen is also chairman of the board of CopenHill A/S, and here she will continue to carry out her duties in connection with CopenHill. She is also the founder and partner of the Human Practice Foundation , a charity that ensures education for children in Nepal and Kenya – supported by a very strong network of Danish business leaders.
“I am very excited to become CEO of AB and use my expertise in sports and business to help this historic club achieve its ambitions. After several conversations with the owners, I could conclude that we share the same goals – to help AB fulfill its potential both on and off the pitch,” says Petersen.
Petersen replaces the outgoing CEO, Erik Stover, who has decided to step down from his position as CEO. Over the past year, Stover has played a crucial role in improving the club’s commercial operations and match experiences. He has also worked closely with Gladsaxe Municipality and DBU with a view to holding the Danish women’s national team’s last match before the World Cup at Gladsaxe Stadium.
“I am very proud of all that we have achieved with our commercial and business operations over the past year,” said Stover. “We achieved many of our goals in a short period of time, and I feel confident in the foundation we have rebuilt. This is the best time for me and my family to explore a new career opportunity.”
Petersen is expected to take up the position on 1 November 2023.
AB’s board thanks Erik for his contribution and welcomes Sofie to the club.
