24-year-old Ilsøe, who originally comes from Esbjerg fB’s youth department, joined AB in January 2023 after a successful stay in the United States, where he played for both Northeastern and UConn.
“Søren is a good leader in our locker room, and has moved a lot since his arrival at AB. Not only does he take responsibility on the field, he also takes a lot of responsibility off the field, especially for the youngsters. He helps inspire the young people on how to train and live professionally, and at the same time he takes responsibility for the club as a whole by also contributing to the club’s academy as a coach. I’m glad we’ll enjoy him for a long time to come,” says head coach Joey Guðjónsson.
Ilsøe has played 34 games for the club, where he has one goal and four assists. He is originally a central midfielder, but Ilsøe has also played in central defence and as a striker for the club.
“Søren has shown an incredible work ethic while he has been here,” says sports director Jen Chang.
“He has shown since day one that he always puts the team first, and he has shown with his development that he is a player who will always try to improve.”
Søren Ilsøe is looking forward to the continued collaboration in AB.
“The chapter for AB and me started back in January 2023, and as all love stories offer, there will be ups and downs. The contract extension is a symbol of my continued dedication to AB and the people in and around the club as well as an insatiable passion for the game and the team,” says Ilsøe.
“The only way to do an excellent job is to love what you do, and I do that here at AB. Our habits define us, and we are what we repeatedly do. I believe that what we do here at the club every single day will create results, and that’s why I’m staying here at the club.”
