Tomorrow, Monday 13 January 2025 at 11 am , AB Gladsaxe will start the season after the winter break with the first of seven training matches leading up to the 8 March , where the 2nd division starts again.
AB starts hard when the strong NordicBet Liga team, Hvidovre IF, as the first training opponent takes on AB on the artificial turf pitch at Vridsløsevej 1 in Albertslund.
The training match is early in the start-upn after only one week of training. However, it always provides match practice and also a look at the new players who have joined during the winter break and who will be played into the team.
Head coach Joey Gudjón’ss on gives an insight into what the focus is in the start-up period.
“From now on, the time is spent with physical training and training based on our game plan. This is my first period where I have the opportunity to train for a longer period of time in the run-up to the spring season. In the summer, there is less time, but we still managed to implement some game-related things.
We must continue to train, both how we attack and defend, and how we take the initiative and puta lot of pressure on the opponents. We have to work on how to get the upper hand in a match. We have to keep the ball for longer periods in the games, and we also have to work on how we build up the game.
The relationships between the players are also a prioritythat we focus on. We don’t have a core of players who have played together for 3-4 years, as other teams in the division have. We also have to work on the physical things, so everyone is completely ready for the matches.
In the autumn We saw how we got into good positions – we will continue to do that, but also work on getting into better positions, for example in the final third. We must ensure that the last passes And finishes come from better positions in terms of scoring goals. We should be a bigger threat with the ball and we saw in the last few games that we are also able to defend.
We have great quality in the team and a lot of talent in the squad, and then we have added Casper Grening and Noah Engell Christensen.
Today is a really good day, where we have trained in sunshine and we can look forward to the many battles in the spring and summer. We In the beginning, you will play friendly matches against good NordicBet League teams, and that in itself is a challenge. The Spills have been through several tests in the last week or so, so we could see how they stood physically – and it looks really good.
Due to the many tests and races, most players will probably not play more than 45 minutes in the first training matches – but we are all looking forward to getting out and playing football”, concludes Joey Gudjónsson.
