Proud and happy Mygind gets new deal
The series of long-term player contracts at AB continues. Offensive profile Emil Mygind is now enjoying the best year of his career by signing a deal with the club that now runs until summer 2025. Mygind is the latest in a series of extensions since AB got new owners. Previously, coaches Patrick Braune and Stefan Larsen as well as captain Silas Trier Madsen and Emil Wass have extended their contracts. “I’m incredibly proud and very happy for myself and the club that we get this opportunity to make it more professional, because I think we deserve it. The fact that my contract is 2.5 years gives me a completely different peace of mind than I’ve had before. I can’t wait to start playing again,” says Emil Mygind, who is enjoying the initial development of AB since Five Castles Football Group LLC acquired a majority stake in the club on November 28. “You can feel that there is more financial investment. There are some new owners who can and dare to invest more, but also in the team with coaches who get full-time contracts. The new owners seemed to have some good plans. They have big dreams for the club. It’s really cool.” Alongside his football career, Emil Mygind is studying public health at the University of Copenhagen. So is the team’s captain Silas Trier Madsen, who is a year further along in his studies. Mygind laughs a little and says that he actually bought all his books for his studies from his captain. However, the new contract at AB means that he now has more time and energy for his football career, as football has gone from being a sideline to a real part-time job. “A lot of my life already revolves around football, but now it will be an even bigger part of my everyday life, which will hopefully allow me to develop even more,” he explains. 22-year-old Emil Mygind grew up playing football in AB’s youth department. As a senior player, he got the chance to play for AB’s divisional team, but says that the pace and physicality challenged him in his first years as a senior player. Six months in the 3rd division in Herlev gave Mygind a lot of playing time, and when he returned to the club for this season, he jumped at the chance. “Mygind is a player who has been at the club for a long time, and now he has made his mark. He did really well at the end of the season, but we’ve long seen his qualities on the training pitch. That’s why we’ve been thinking, when does it come out in spades? It does now. Sometimes you just need enough chances and it will come if there is enough quality,” says head coach Patrick Braune. Emil Mygind recognizes that statement. “I’ve previously lacked an extra gear in matches, but I’ve calmed down completely during the fall. It’s gone well for me and for the team, and it’s usually good for the individual players when the team does well,” he says.
