AB Gladsaxe played 0-0 today at Lollands Bank Park against Nykøbing FC.
Seen over the entire game and measured by goal chances, it was a game that AB should have won. A point in the season opener on a difficult away pitch against last year’s relegation team must be said to be approved, however.
Already after 5 minutes, AB had had three chances that could have been converted into goals. One of the chances came to Killian van Mil after quick passes forward on the pitch, but the shot was averted.
Throughout the game, AB’s former goalkeeper, Tobias Brogaard, took a good shot when AB finished. After that, AB pressed on, and many chances were produced. In the 18th minute, Killian van Mil got another chance, and the riposte went out to a completely free Tim Freriks, who sent the ball just over the goal.
AB continued the high pressure and sat on the game. After losing the ball, AB quickly captured the ball in the repress, and Nykøbing FC were rare guests in AB’s half of the field. The defense stood well in the situations where Nykøbing FC came forward towards AB’s goal. The newcomer defender Hørdur Askham played a great game in central defence in his first appearance in the green shirt.
Nykøbing FC had a good attempt after 1/2 hour of play, but Indy Groothuizen intervened safely on the long shot.

There were a lot of chances, but there was not enough luck for AB to take the lead. The match becomes more even, and Nykøbing FC gets closer. The game also gets more messy, and AB did not have the same grip on the game as in the 1st half. However, AB still came up with big chances, and towards the end of the game, Emil Wass could have secured the victory. Unfortunately, an otherwise very qualified shot ended up close to goal.
750 spectators watched the two teams open the season with one point for each team.

After the game, captain Daniel A. Pedersen said: “I think the 1st half was good. We come out well and we created a lot of chances, and we should have led by a couple of goals at the break. We lack quality in the finishing. We have to win this game, and I think we have the biggest chances. The 2nd half will be a little more messy. It’s OK with 1 point away from home, and now we’re on the board. However, I’m disappointed that we didn’t win, especially when we look at the big chances we actually had.”
Head coach David Roufpanah continued: “We have chances to win the game. We have to score in the 1st half and decide the game there. We are in control of the game, but we can’t convert the chances into goals. Nykøbing comes back more in the 2nd half, but we still have chances and we have to win the game.”
