On tour again in Jutland

On the morning of Saturday 23 March 2024, AB Gladsaxe will play the first match of Easter week, when the team takes the bus for the long trip to Jutland, where Skive IK at 14:00 awaits at Hancock Arena. Subsequently, AB plays at home at Gladsaxe Stadium against Nykøbing FC on Maundy Thursday 28 March at 15:00. Easter week ends with an away game in Sundby Idrætspark against Fremad Amager on Easter Sunday 2, Monday 1 April at 19:00.

Saturday’s match in Skive is a match between Skive in 8th place with 18 points and AB in 6th place with 23 points in the 2nd division. So the stage is set for an even match. The first meeting between the two teams ended 0-0 at home at Gladsaxe Stadium in October.

Head coach David Roufpanah gives the match these words on the way: “Skive plays direct football. We have to play on a difficult surface and we have to adapt to that. We expect a fight with lots of fight.

Skive creates good chances on direct play and on standard situations. We have looked at this and prepared for it as best we can. For our part, we are relatively comfortable playing different matches in different ways. It will be a completely different game than against Aarhus Fremad, so we have to adapt to that. We go into the game with a good feeling and a feeling that we should have had more than a point after the first two games. So we have to see how we fix that in the coming games.”

Skive has got off to a good start with the spring season by playing 1-1 with Fremad Amager and most recently Skive won on the difficult away ground with 3-2 against Nykøbing FC.

The two teams each have one player in quarantine for the match. For Skive it is Andreas Pisani and for AB it is Rasmus Brodersen. So it will be exciting to see who the coaching staff chooses for the left defensive side, where Rasmus Brodersen has been a regular man.

AB will also have to do without Hørður Askham, who is with the Faroese national team. So maybe we can see Hørður play at Brøndby Stadium on Tuesday, March 26 against Denmark.

Referee Stefan Fyhn will officiate the match in Skive and on the lines he has Martin Outzen and Niels Heer.

Goalkeeper Albert Gaub-Jakobsen says the following after today’s training: “I am looking forward to playing a match again. We will face a physically strong team that plays a lot on long balls. It’s a difficult track. We must build on the good tactics we have shown most recently against Aarhus Fremad. I think we had a good handle on them for long periods of time and they didn’t get very many chances. We also have to score some more goals!”.

Mark Garly Pedersen, who has just extended his contract until 2026, says: “I imagine they will come with a lot of physicality. We have to play our own game and not fight with them. We have to get the ball down on the ground, and we have to push through. We actually play a good game against Aarhus Fremad, but now it’s a completely different game tomorrow against a team that plays completely different.

We take the good start from the last game, because it has been a bit of our Achilles heel that we have come into the game too late. So we have to be ready from the start – and we are!”.
