Offensive profile gets a long contract
AB continues to extend the contracts of the team’s profiles. First head coach Patrick Braune and his assistant coach Stefan Larsen signed new contracts with the club, and most recently captain Silas Trier Madsen signed a new contract. Now, one of the team’s offensive profiles is also extending his commitment with AB. Emil Wass has signed a long-term contract with AB that runs until the summer of 2026. “I’m really happy that I’ve got a long contract with AB. I’m incredibly happy to play for the club, and I see it as a pat on the back from AB that I can hopefully be part of the journey to a higher level,” says Emil Wass. Head coach Patrick Braune is pleased that Wass now has a 3.5-year deal with the club. “He has been an important part of our success. Emil is a skilled, offensive player with a vision for the game, and he will continue to be so in the future. He is extremely hard-working without the ball, where he helps to apply aggressive pressure, and with the ball he is good at making the right decisions and finding the right solutions,” says Braune. The 23-year-old offensive player has had a career where he has typically gone from one short-term contract to the next. The new deal with AB is the first time he has had such a long contract with a club, and he is looking forward to taking advantage of it. “It definitely gives me peace of mind. I know where I’ll be for the next 3.5 years and contribute with what I can. Hopefully we’ll take some steps together towards a ‘higher shelf.’ I really want to be a part of that, and I see great potential to develop as a player. I see AB as the best place to do that,” Wass explains. His time as a youth player was mainly spent in Brøndby and Lyngby, before Emil Wass got the opportunity to travel with his 10-year older brother, Daniel, to Spain in 2015. Here Daniel Wass played for Celta Vigo, while the then 16-year-old Emil helped look after his brother’s girls and played for the club’s youth team. Daniel Wass has played 44 international matches and after stints with Valencia and Atlético Madrid, he has now returned to Denmark, where he plays for Brøndby. AB’s Emils Wass has used his brother’s experience a lot during his football career and continues to do so. “He has been a fantastic support. We call each other after all our matches. Here we are each other’s critics and in that way we also help each other. I think a lot of people could benefit from having that kind of support. I’ve been lucky to have a brother who could share his experiences,” says Emil Wass.
