AB Gladsaxe will follow up on the fine start in the promotion playoffs when the team travels to Falster tomorrow, Friday 26 April 2024, to face Nykøbing FC. AB has in the first two games of the promotion play-off won against number 1 in the 2. Division Esbjerg fB with 2-1 and last week there was a 1–1 draw against the league’s number 2 FC Roskilde in Roskilde. Nykøbing FC has not got off to a good start in the promotion game after two defeats of 5-0, first to FC Roskilde and last week to Aarhus Fremad.
The referee of the match Michael Rasmussen will start the match at 19.00 at Lollands Bank Park. AB has Søren Ilsøe and Daniel Pedersen in quarantine – Nykøbing has no one in quarantine. The last match between the two teams on Maundy Thursday 28 March is best remembered for the dramatic finish, where AB is trailing 2-0 at half-time. In the 2nd half, Tim Freriks scores first and in the 91st minute August Hlynsson equalizes to 2-2. AB then goes for all 3 points, but instead it is Nykøbing FC who runs away with the victory with a goal in the 92nd minute. It was a game where AB created many chances and already in the 1st half should have scored. But the game was too slow and there is a big gap between the chains. That gave too much space to Nykøbing FC in midfield. In the second half, AB sat on the game and got the game placed higher up the pitch. The 2nd half is based on Friday’s game in Nykøbing.
After today’s training, head coach David Roufpanah says: “Nykøbing is a very young team, but a strong team. The results they have got in the last 3 matches where they have lost 5-0. These are not good results, but the results are also deceiving. Nykøbing have created good chances in all three games and have also played really well in between. So the results are somewhat misleading, but we have looked at how we can score on them, We have also looked at how we can avoid having their dangerous transitions against us. We have to go into the game with a lot of focus and not with a feeling that it will be an easy game, because it won’t be. In this promotion game, there are no easy games – all teams are good.”
Adrien Koudelka adds: “Yes, we face Nykøbing on Friday. They have had a difficult time with bad defeats in the last few games. We are unbeaten in the last two games and we want to continue with that and also get 3 points tomorrow. We have trained well this week, and especially in glorious sunshine, the mood is high. We are in a good rhythm, we find each other. We play with a different structure. We feel good about that. Defensively, we are better and better and we are more compact, so it is more difficult to score against us. As a defense attorney, it is important to me that the defense is in a good position – and I hope for a clean sheet tomorrow.”
