New Year’s greetings from Chairman of the Board Brian Grieco

English version here

Dear AB family,

I am happy to be able to look back on the year with you. I may have only been chairman of the board of the club for a few months, but I have been part of the project for a long time. Now we are on the threshold of a new year, and I want to take this opportunity to reflect on our journey together and look forward to the exciting times ahead.

The past year has been filled with milestones and challenges, all of which have contributed to moving the club forward. I am still impressed by the passion, patience and dedication our fans show us when we win and when we lose.

We want to pay back this passion. Even though the league is on winter break, we are not standing still. We are only eight points away from a promotion place and we have momentum. We will do everything we can to achieve our goals by adding new energy to the club both on and off the pitch. We will work tirelessly to lift the club on all fronts.

Two recent highlights have been the welcome of Noah Engell and Tobias Hageltorn, who are both exceptional players and proud products of our academy. They represent both AB’s heart and future. They are examples of the close partnership between the elite and grassroots organizations under the AB logo. We will continue to invest in both young talent and established leaders.

We have also worked hard to improve the matchday experience with themed matches such as the Oktoberfest match against HIK, which created an unforgettable atmosphere on the stands and in the lounge. These events remind us that AB is not just about football; It’s about community and creating memories together. I also feel this community when I’m in the stadium, and I enjoy spending time with fans and partners. It’s great to feel the passion and talk to so many dedicated AB supporters. I’ll be back for our spring premiere against BK Frem, so please come and say hi.

This winter also marks two years of ownership for the new group. And by group, I mean a gathering of more than 100 passionate individuals who have come together because they saw the potential of this historic club. No large corporations, no private equity funds and no multi-club ownership. Only individuals who are passionate about football and for AB’s future. Our sole purpose has always been – and will remain – AB’s growth and success.

As we head into the new year, I want to assure you that we are united to build long-term success – no matter what happens this season. We want to tackle the challenges that lie ahead ambitiously and collectively, with strong roots in the local community. And I am honored to be leading that effort.

This desire is the driving force that has led me to take on the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors together with the purpose of allowing our Sports Director, Jen Chang, to focus 100% on AB’s sporting direction. He is an invaluable part of the club and the time he invests in scouting and watching every training session is a testament to the dedication that he and our coaching staff put into achieving our goals.

I would also like to thank our director, Sofie Brandi Petersen, for her efforts. She has been crucial for us, as head of the daily operations, where she continues to professionalize the club. She has significantly improved our work culture, matchday experience and the strategic direction of our commercial efforts. She has also led our community work on the most comprehensive project with local schools in Gladsaxe we have ever had.

Akademisk Boldklub is a club with a rich history, an exciting present and a future full of opportunities. We have knowledge as a foundation and are built for development.

Thank you for your unwavering support and faith in AB. Together, we will continue to build something special in 2025.

Happy New Year!

Always AB,

Brian J. Grieco
