Narrow defeat away from home

AB Gladsaxe suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Kolding IF today. The only goal of the match was scored after 55 minutes by Kolding’s Dalton Wilkins. Today’s match saw the debut of goalkeeper Albert Gaub-Jakobsen, as Tobias Brogaard was not available for the match. Compared to the last match, Silas Trier Madsen was back in midfield after serving a suspension, and Oliver Angus was back on the wing. Christoffer Thrane started on the bench, and Adrien Koudelka was out with an injury. The match also saw a happy reunion with Sylvester Seeger-Hansen, who made a comeback after being out with a bad injury that he suffered in January 2022. Sylle came on the field in the 78th minute.

AB expected a tough match on a tough away pitch, and Kolding put a lot of pressure on AB from the start and got into the game. As the half progressed, AB got more involved in the game, and the chances started to come. Kolding still had dangerous shots and had an attempt that hit the crossbar in the 42nd minute. AB’s combinations started to flow better in a match against a physical and well-playing Kolding team. After some dangerous moves, Frederik Ellegaard was millimeters away from getting his pass to Emil Wass, who was free in front of Kolding’s goal. After half an hour, Oliver Angus sent a nice cross into the box, where Marcus Gudmann rose in the air, but unfortunately the ball did not end up in the goal.

There were some fine moves in defence, including a good cross from Kolding IF that was saved by a flying Gustav Overgaard Hansen. At the end of the half, Frederik Ellegaard accidentally got the ball and ran towards goal, but the shot ended up over the goal. At the start of the second half, Albert Nørager had a good opportunity to score, but he shot the ball into the ground. Kolding IF had a golden chance, which Dalton Wilkins converted to make it 1-0. Daniel Warmbach could have equalised with a really good header after a cross from Albert Nørager, but the ball hit the crossbar. Kolding IF had a free kick in the dying minutes of the match, but Søren Ilsøe fearlessly dived into the shot and saved another goal.

Head coach Patrick Birch Braune said after the match: “It was a very close match today against Kolding. We know that it is difficult to play against Kolding away. There are several areas where we can hurt them. However, the final quality was missing to kick the ball in on the chances we got. Then there was a lack of concentration, which cost us dearly. We have to improve, and we have to look forward to the next match. We have to come out there and work really hard and deserve the support we get.”

Captain Silas Trier Madsen says: “We are behind and tired of losing these football games. I don’t feel like there is much that is missing for it to go our way. Right now it is very unfortunate. We just have to stand together as a group and continue to work to get the results that we know we are good enough to achieve. Right now our efforts do not match the results, and luck is not with us.”
