Knud Lundberg. A Danish icon and a legend in the world of sports and not least in AB.
Lundberg was born on 14 May 1920 in the heart of Copenhagen. His name would later become the symbol of an outstanding sporting career that spanned several decades and went beyond the boundaries of a single sport. His journey ended on August 12, 2002 in Gentofte, but his legacy lives on in Danish sports history. Today, Lundberg would have turned 104 years old.
At the heart of his sporting achievements was his long career in AB. At a time when club transfers were rare, Lundberg remained faithful to AB throughout his football career. He won five Danish championships and played 40 international matches, of which he was captain in 27 of them. .
Knud Lundberg’s legacy extended beyond his lifetime. Not only was he inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at its establishment in 1992, he also became the first member of Akademisk Boldklub’s Wall of Fame, cementing his place as one of the biggest legends in the club and a sports icon in Danish history.
