The 1st half was An even game with a lot of play in the middle of the field. It didn’t lead to any significant chances at some of the ends. AB was good with it and sometimes played well together. However, it was clear that the relationships were not coherent. It could be seen that the team was not used to playing together.
At the end of the 1st half, the biggest chance fell to Holbæk B&I, where a header was strangely sent past Albert Gaub’s goal.
It only took a few minutes of the 2nd half before Holbæk was awarded a penalty. It didn’t look like the world’s biggest penalty, but the referee ruled it out. Malte Sjørslev scored safely to lead 1-0.
From here it was uphill in a strong headwind, the rain was pouring down and AB was trailing 0-1.
AB tried to get the game forward on the field and create some chances, but Holbæk stood physically strong and broke up much of AB’s play.
AB’s biggest chance came after a free kick on the right side, where Noah Ibsen came high up and headedthe An excellent header towards goal. The ball was parried and several finishes after were also parried. It was almost impossible to understand that the ball didn’t go into the goal.
With ten minutes left of the game, Holbæk B&I’s Andrew Oseni his second yellow card and had to leave the field. However, it did not change much in the match picture. At the end of the regular playing time f Holbæk B&I was awarded a corner kick, which Christoffer Blond saveddirectly into the goal, helped along by the strong wind.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson believes that despite the defeat, the match is a good investment in the future because it gave the young players valuable playing time.
“It was disappointing that we lost. In my opinion, we played a good 1st half. Holbæk B&I was really well organized and they did it well. We have to show respect for the opponent, who was very physical and had a skilled coach. So I will give them credit for their efforts. We Should have created more chances in the 1st half and scored, so we could take the lead.”
“We are all disappointed to be out of the cup tournament. On the other hand, it succeeded in providing a Share young players with the opportunity to play at a higher level. A lot of academy players were there today, and after such a game they get stronger. The next time they join, they will be ready to give more. It is also part of the journey. We lost this game and now we are focusing on the tournament, where we already have an important game on Friday. “
“There were many players who have not played together very much, and new players have joined. It will take time to record them, and it is important to us that they get the opportunity to play on the 1st senior, Because that’s important to us too.”
“We are now looking forward to the tournament again. There is more time now when we don’t have to play cup matches. We hope it can give us advantages in the coming matches. The most important thing for us is the tournament. We are building for the future and we will be focused on the tournament from now on. Our main goal this season is promotion . It is A close division and it’s early in the season, but we’re at the top now – and that’s where we want to stay,” the head coach concludes.
Captain Daniel A. Pedersen is looking forward to the match on Friday, where the focus will be at the very top.
“I think It’s a shame that we don’t make it further in the cup. It’s clear , that we rotate a lot in the team today. We were not skilled enough to do the job.”
“Now we have 100% focus on the league. It is the league that is most important and we really want to move up this year. There are , our focus is.
“There are many players today who have not played together in matches. Many young players who get some important playing time and also for the future it is Really good minutes for them and lots of learning at senior level. I’m super annoyed about that we will not advance, but we have a really important game on Friday, which we are already focusing on,” the captain concludes.
The next match is Friday13 September 2024 at 19:00 against Fremad Amager in Sundby Idrætspark.
