In preparation for the exciting round of 16 in the cup against Superliga team Vejle BK, we caught up with the opposing team’s vice-captain, Miiko Albornoz, earlier this week to get an insight into the team’s journey in the tournament so far and the expectations for the upcoming clash at Gladsaxe Stadium.

In the journey to the 4th round, Vejle has faced several teams from the lower ranks, but Miiko and the rest of Vejle’s team still expect a difficult game away from home tonight.

“First of all, we know that the cup is always difficult. We have started out playing against teams from lower ranks, so we have met teams that are automatically very motivated to play against us. Therefore, it is always difficult matches. And we had a very difficult game against Sønderjyske, which we won. Then we played against a team from a lower league that actually played really well and won quite easily. And now we know that we are going to play against a good team from the 2nd division in Denmark, who have a really nice stadium, a good pitch, and probably they will be very, very motivated to play against us, a Superliga team, so we expect a difficult game against them. So, of course, we have to be well prepared.

The turnaround from Sunday’s game against Viborg FF and tonight’s game has been short, but Miiko himself believes that Vejle go into the game with an understanding of AB’s style of play and their own plan.

“What we know is that this is a good team that we have to play against and they will definitely be fully focused on our game and follow our plan for tomorrow.”

Vejle BK is entering an important period in the Superliga, where all points are important, but that does not mean that the team does not value advancing in the cup tournament.

“No, of course we want to show our best side. So maybe they will get the chance to do it on Wednesday in the cup match. We don’t actually know the starting line-up yet, but everyone needs to be prepared for this game on Sunday, but we are fully focused on the Wednesday game now. We know that it is also important for the club to advance in the cup. Of course, everyone expects us to advance in this match, but we don’t take it lightly because we know that we have to play against a team that is highly motivated in any cup match in any country. You’ve seen many of the games where the lower teams beat the big teams. I think every player who gets the chance will come with 100% focus.”

Miiko Albornoz and Vejle BK are aware of the challenge in the meeting with AB, and they do not intend to take the match lightly. Let’s see how it all unfolds tonight when the two teams come face to face in an exciting cup match.
