Tomorrow, Sunday, April 16, 2023, Gladsaxe Stadium opens the gates for AB Gladsaxe’s first match in the promotion playoffs. At 13:00 the match referee, Ulrik Gøtze, will whistle the match between AB Gladsaxe and Aarhus Fremad. The top six teams in the 2nd division are playing for promotion, so there are 10 matches among the best teams in the 2nd division. This will be the third match between the two teams this season. The first two matches both ended in draws. In October 2022, the match ended 2-2 at Gladsaxe Stadion on goals from Emil Wass and Albert Nørager. A match that will be remembered most of all for Aarhus Fremad’s equalizer in ten minutes of injury time.
On March 12, AB played its first game of the spring season against Aarhus Fremad at Fredensvang (AGF’s ground). At that point, Aarhus Fremad had played two important games. However, AB had a good start and Marcus Gudmann put AB ahead in the seventeenth minute. Aarhus Fremad equalized midway through the second half, and 1-1 was the result – a draw that AB was probably most disappointed with.
AB drew 0-0 against Esbjerg fB in their final game of the playoffs. It was AB’s third draw in a row, so a win on Sunday will be welcome. Aarhus Fremad drew 1-1 against FC Roskilde at home at Riisvangen in their final game of the playoffs. In the table, Aarhus Fremad is in second place with 49 points, while AB is in fifth place with 42 points. So it’s set for a very even and close match when the two teams cross swords on Sunday.
Silas Trier Madsen is out with a quarantine. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune says: “Aarhus Fremad is a tough opponent, and it’s our first game in the playoffs. The playoffs are going to be insanely exciting, and we can’t wait to get started. We’ve met the other teams several times, and I think we’ve been competitive. Now a new showdown awaits us at Gladsaxe Stadium, and we’re highly motivated and want to hit the playoffs with full power. I think it will be an entertaining match with two teams that want to get on the pitch and play a good game of football. We’re hungry for three points!”
