Tomorrow, Friday 17 May 2024 at 19:00, AB Gladsaxe will welcome Nykøbing FC at Gladsaxe Stadium.
It has been a week of major changes – first with the dismissal of the coaching staff and most recently the hiring of Joey Guðjónsson as the new head coach. Assistant coach Fabiana Alcalá has been appointed as interim head coach, who is in charge of the team against Nykøbing FC.
AB won the two teams’ last match on April 26 with 1-0 in Nykøbing F. AB’s goal was scored by Darren Sidoel. The match after 3 May, Nykøbing FC won 2-1 against the 2nd division’s absolute top team Esbjerg fB. Nykøbing FC occupies 5th place in the 2nd division with 36 points. AB is in 6th place with 32 points.
Both teams come into the match with defeats in their last match. Last Saturday, Nykøbing FC lost 2-0 in Middelfart and AB lost 1-0 against the top team Aarhus Fremad at Riisvangen Stadium. So it is to be expected that it is two teams that will go hard after the victory.
The responsibility for the conduct of the match is placed in the hands of referee Sebastian Tornhøj Nielsen and line judges Poul Nyberg and Søren Lehmann.
Interim head coach Fabiana Alcalá said after today’s training: “It’s been a tough week with a lot of changes, but we’ve worked really hard. I have a good feeling that the players have given what they could. We think we can contain Nykøbing’s formations and hurt them a little. We have studied them and we know how to gain advantages in the game.
There is a good atmosphere between the players and the staff. There’s a fresh feeling now and we’re really positive, so I think we can put in a good performance tomorrow. It has been a week where we have worked on the things that we had to prepare for for the upcoming match and I think we have the keys.
Now it’s about what happens on the pitch. We have a good feeling and we are really looking forward to it. We believe that we can take the 3 points, especially with the good support from our fans. I have a good feeling and am actually not nervous. It will be a big game for me personally as well, and I have full confidence that the boys will secure us the 3 points, so we can celebrate afterwards.”

On the way in from training, Ahmed Hassan said: “We are looking forward to the game tomorrow. Of course, it’s great that we as a team can help create history. Fabi has come in with a good intensity and we have trained well this week.”
Mark Garly gave the match these words along the way: “The last time we met Nykøbing, we had a really good handle on them. So I think we need to build on that. We have had a nice week, even though there has been some turmoil around the team. We have to remember that it’s our job to be football players, so we have to deliver out on the pitch and we want to give everything we have in us. In terms of training, it has been an ordinary week, where we have been looking forward to the match against Nykøbing. If we deliver as we can and as we also did last time against Nykøbing and do not burn as many chances as last time, then we will win again. They stood low and gave us the game, but it suited us fine.”
