Tomorrow, Friday 21 March 2025, AB Gladsaxe will try to follow up on the good game and the fine result in last Saturday’s 3-1 win in Middelfart. Ishøj IF is tonight’s opponent, and the referee of the match, Sebastian Tornhøj Nielsen, will blow the whistle for the clash at 19:00 at Gladsaxe Stadium.
After the win in Middelfart, AB is just outside the Top-6 in 7th place with 24 points. Ishøj IF occupies 10th place with 21 points, so it is an extremely important match for both teams.
The first match between the two teams back in October ended 1-1 in Ishøj. Marco Ramkilde brought AB to 1-0 on a penalty kick in the first half, and Ishøj IF equalized to 1-1 on a direct free kick in the second half despite AB dominance
Ishøj IF also comes to the match with a win in the bag, as the team won 2-1 at home against Nykøbing FC. Ishøj IF has as a promoted team done very well in the 2nd division and is a good playing team with several skilled individualists who can decide matches on their own.
Head coach Joey Gudjonsson is looking forward to the home game and hopes that it will be a good game from start to finish.
“Ishøj is a team that if they have the ball, they create many chances. They want the ball and want to play. Of course, we must limit this as much as possible. We have to be aggressive from the start of the game – and that has to be in both halves. We want to show our fans how much it means to us that they are behind us, so we have to give them a good game with good performances.
We know that Ishøj takes chances, but if we don’t take them seriously and are sloppy, then they will come up with scoring chances. We have worked on our mentality, so we are completely ready when the game starts. We really want to show them that we play at home and we want to press them and be aggressive with the ball. We will take the game down to their third of the pitch and control the game as best we can.
It will be a completely different game against Ishøj than we had against Middelfart. We were a little surprised by Middelfart, who pushed us higher than we had expected. They got forward and pressed us on the ball. We have to be prepared to change the way we play. We always have a presumption about how the opponents will play, but our players also have to be prepared to make changes, because we can’t guarantee them a certain style of play.
The players must be ready for it from the start of the match – they must see what is happening on the pitch and possibly change the line-up. Where is there space and where do they want to play the ball to? These are the qualities that will make our team strong.”
Defender Noah Ibsen has no doubts, because the team will go for a win:
“We have to build on the game and the victory we got in Middelfart. We are very well prepared for what Ishøj will bring. We have had a really good week. There has been high spirits, we have trained well and have trained for Friday’s game. So we just have to deliver in front of the fans and our supporters.
The first game in Ishøj I think we should have won. We are dominant on the ball and sit on the game and they get a stupid free-kick goal. We know Ishøj are good on the ball, so we have worked on our pressing game. They have height in the back line, so we have to get balls down deep to our edges, which we have to put in the scene. We are going for all three points!”.
