Great match against Holstein Kiel ll

AB Gladsaxe played the second training match before the start of the season on Friday evening. AB was visited by Holstein Kiel’s U23 team – Kiel ll. AB won the match with 1-0 and has thus won the 2nd training match in a row.

AB lined up with Marcus Brobjerg on goal. In central defence were Adrien Koudelka, Mikkel Brund and Hørdur Askham. On the right side of the defence was Frederik Lindgaard and on the left side of the defence was Rasmus Brodersen. In midfield: Ægir Jarl Jonasson, Ágúst Hlynsson and Søren Ilsøe, who was captain for today’s match. At the top was Christian Wagner and Marco Ramkilde.

It was a very physical match from start to finish with lots of duels in midfield. The game started with a high physical pressure from Holstein Kiel, who played out on the edges and came up with a number of crosses from there. After about 10 minutes of play, AB had seen his opponent and came more forward on the field. Most of the game took place in midfield without any big chances for either team. However, Holstein Kiel got a great chance, but Marcus Brobjerg handled the attempt from a completely free Holstein Kiel striker. Shortly after, Ægir Jarl Jonasson had a nice finish with his head, but the ball ended up narrowly past the goal. Ægir played his first match in the green jersey and had a really good debut.

Towards the end of the 1st half, AB had several big chances, including a shot on the crossbar. Before that, both Christian Wagner and Søren Ilsøe had good finishes.

From the start of the 2nd half, O’Vonte Mullings replaced Marco Ramkilde. Ægir Jarl Jónasson also went out and was replaced by Pachanga Kristensen, who came in and played in midfield.
The play in midfield continued and not many scoring chances occurred. After 20 minutes, Flamur Dzelili, Yushi Yamaya, Emil Mygind and Noah Ibsen enter the field, while Frederik Lindgaard, Ágúst Hlynsson, Christian Wagner and Adrien Koudelka leave the field.
After a very short time, Yushi Yamaya receives a nice pass in deep, runs away from his opponent and scores safely on Holstein Kiel’s goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
After 30 minutes, Darren Sidoel replaces Mikkel Brund and Rasmus Brodersen leaves the field and in comes Tobias Hageltorn. Towards the end of the match, Emil Mygind goes out and Ilias Namli comes on the field.
AB fought well and apart from a great chance at the end of the game, Holstein Kiel did not have any great chances. AB came out of the match well and tried several things, which can now be built on for the upcoming trainings. The game ended 1-0.

Holstein Kiel head coach Willi Weise had these words about the match: “We are very grateful to be a guest here at AB and to play this match. We got off to a good start, and in the first 20 minutes we put a good pressure and found good solutions. AB became more aggressive with a high and sustained pressure. This is something we will continue to work on in the next trainings. We have to find solutions on how to play when the opponents put a lot of pressure. Maybe we should have played with the ball with a little more courage, so we could have broken AB’s high pressure. If we could have succeeded in doing that a couple of times, we could probably have had more space.”

AB’s head coach Joey Gudjonsson saw the game like this: “I’m very happy with the game. It was a very physical team we played against. We had prepared the players for it, because we have to be physically strong in the 2nd division. I’m very happy with the game and we could have scored 2-3 more goals. We created chances and we saw a good expression, teamwork and good performances individually. We work hard in training, and take those things into the game and also score a goal. So it is very positive and we must continue to work hard. I think we got it out of the game the way we wanted. The players showed character, fought for each other, ran a lot and they are in really good shape. There are things that need to be improved, but I am very happy with today’s performance.”

The next training match will be played at Tingbjerg Ground on Tuesday 23 July at 18:00 against Brønshøj.
