Good point in Roskilde

In the presence of 660 spectators in Roskilde Sports Park, AB Gladsaxe got a good point against FC Roskilde in the 2nd match of the promotion play-offs. After 0-0 at half-time, FC Roskilde took a 1-0 lead on penalties, but Tim Freriks equalised for the final score of 1-1. An approved effort and where after a good fight it managed to keep Roskilde from several goals.

In relation to the match against Esbjerg fB, Flamur Dzelili started on the bench, and O’Vonte Mullings started inside. Mikkel Brund and Adrien Koudelka once again formed the central axis, and O’Vonte Mullings and Christian Wagner played up top.

FC Roskilde got on the game at the start of the match. After 7 minutes, Albert Gaub-Jakobsen had to go out at full length and tipped the ball over the goal after an otherwise good Roskilde attempt. FC Roskilde managed to put themselves on the game in the first 20 minutes. After that, AB came more into the game, and made the game run better. In glimpses, AB gets more pace on the passes, which were also characterized by high balls, which often landed with the opponents. A good shot is blocked by Roskilde’s defense, and a minute later it is Mikkel Brund who at the other end has to block a shot from Roskilde. AB gets several conversions, and after just under half an hour, Yushi Yamaya finishes a few meters outside the box, and the ball goes close to the post.

From the start of the second half, Tim Freriks came on the field and played together with Christian Wagner at the top. Roskilde has pressed AB well from the start of the half, and fortunately Mikkel Brund and Adrien Koudelka show strong defense and good fight. Albert Gaub-Jakobsen has to pull out good saves again, and played a really good game overall. FC Roskilde had a lot of play and also a lot of space in midfield.

After a bit of a fight for the ball in AB’s box, the ball lands on the crossbar after a good shot. Just 5 minutes later, another shot is saved on the line.

AB does not have the referee with him, as Darren Sidoel in the middle of the field is tackled and stays lying down. The referee’s whistle is silent and the Roskilde player runs towards goal. In the box, he is tackled and the referee awards a penalty. Emil Nielsen scores to make it 1-0 after 69 min.

Tim Freriks receives a long pass and gets the ball with him in the box, where he shoots the ball into the goal via the post to equalize 1-1 after 81 minutes.

After the game, head coach David Roufpanah said: “It was a difficult away game, but I think we have good control in the first half. This is also how we talk about the 1st half at halftime, as we

Talking about how we should attack the 2nd half. We have the feeling that we have had good control of the game. The 2nd half becomes more open, and we create some half chances.

Roskilde has some shots from outside and some standards that are not really dangerous. Then they get a penalty, which should not have been awarded, as there was a big free kick on Darren beforehand. They score on the penalty kick and then we have to work from there.

I think we played well and got back in the game. We get the pressure higher at the end and also create chances. We feel that maybe we could have scored one more goal at the end of the game. But it was a strong point for the club. We will continue to find different combinations and constellations in our game offensively as well. So now we have to spend next week getting ready for next Friday’s game in Nykøbing.”.

Captain Darren Sidoel had these comments: “We fought hard. At the end of the game, we could have won. They also had their chances, but looking at the whole game, I feel that a draw is a fair result. They put a lot of pressure on us, but I think we defended well and fought as a team and played for each other.

It is now 4 points in total against two top teams, and I think that is fine when we look back at where we come from. We can take that with us and we will build on and continue to work hard.”

The next match will be played on Friday 26 April 2024 at 19:00 away against Nykøbing FC.
