Good fight gave victory in Sweden

AB won 2-0 in yesterday’s friendly match against Österlen FF. The goals were scored by Darren Sidoel on a free kick after 30 minutes and Julius Lind in the referee’s overtime on a good shot all the way down at the post to make the match 2-0.

That had changed after the match against FA 2000. Daniel A. Pedersen started in central defence, Darren Sidoel was back in the defensive midfield after a short maternity leave, Tim Freriks played on the right wing and Ahmed Hassan played in the middle at the front of the attack.

AB played from the start of the match with high intensity and good pace with a high pressure game. Already after 2 minutes, a corner kick is sent behind to Mark Garly Pedersen, who shoots over the goal.

Österlen FF comes up with a quick conversion to a finish that is sent to the corner. AB’s defense fended off this and again pushed the game up the field.

Yushi Yamaya speeds up towards the back line and sends a good cross into the box to Ahmed Hassan, who burns the chance. After 20 minutes, Österlen FF has a completely free player in front of goal, but Albert Gaub-Jacobsen manages the header. Just a minute later, Albert Gaub-Jacobsen again has to pull out a good save, when Österlen FF sends a shot close to the crossbar. The ensuing corner kick led to nothing.

Almost half an hour played and the referee awards an indirect free kick about 2 meters inside the penalty area, when one of Österlen FF’s defenders puts a pass back to the goalkeeper, who picks up the ball. Österlen FF puts up a strong wall, Tim Freriks plays short to Yushi Yamaya, who lays the ball down for Darren Sidoel, who sends a hard shot all the way down in the corner to lead 1-0.

Österlen FF gets the chance to equalize, but the shot is past the goal. AB has the ball in the goal to make it 2-0 after a nice cross from Rasmus Brodersen almost from the back line. It did not look like offside as the referee judged.

For the start of the 2nd half, Ahmed Hassan has been replaced by Flamur Dzelili. The match continues with chances for both teams. There were no goals – not least because both teams had a good goalkeeper.

Darren Sidoel takes a seat on the bench and Julius Lind comes on the field.

Subsequently, AB has several good chances. A deep pass in the box to Tim Freriks, who after some good moves finishes unfortunately right on the goalkeeper.

After 80 minutes, Tim Freriks dribbles well through the defense again, but hits the post and the ball goes into play again.

Towards the end of the match, Søren Ilsøe, Christian Wagner, Emiliano Gomez, Hørdur Askham, Agust Hlynsson, Mikkel Brund and O’Vonte Mullings come on the field.

With 4 minutes left of regular playing time, Søren Ilsøe sends a good pass to Julius Lind, who comes through nicely, but unfortunately saves Österlen’s goalkeeper again. Julius Lind took revenge by scoring on a nice shot to make it 2-0 in the referee’s overtime.

Head coach David Roufpanah said after the game: “It was great to win today. It’s important to get that feeling of winning. We face a good opponent today, who also creates several good chances. We also have many good chances and could have scored 3-4 more goals. But what was important was that all our players, both those who started and those who came on the field, made a really good effort with high intensity. We show that we can handle 90 minutes with really high intensity. We have very good combination play throughout the pitch. There are a lot of positives to take away from the match. Of course, we have to take into account that our opponent plays in a lower division. But they have a good team with some really good players. It was a good game and we have a good feeling. We would see some different frequencies compared to the last friendly match. We got to see that and it was really good.”
