AB Gladsaxe held an extraordinary fan dialogue meeting on Wednesday, where CEO Erik Stover gave an update on the current situation at the club. Among other things, the firing of head coach Patrick Birch Braune was discussed, which Erik described as regrettable but necessary due to differences of opinion. Erik also talked a little about the poor results in the promotion play-offs, where injuries to important players in the squad have had a major impact on the results.
Fans were allowed to ask questions, and questions included the upcoming transfer window and the sporting director’s influence on this summer’s transfers. Erik replied that AB is focusing on a strong sporting director setup, but that future transfers will be planned in collaboration with the new permanent head coach. It was also emphasized that the squad building will still focus on a strong Danish core.
The hiring of a new coach was also asked about and whether they plan to hire a Danish or foreign coach. Erik replied that the management still believes that it is important to maintain a Danish core in and around the team, but that they are looking to hire the best person for the job. It was also said that they expect to have a head coach ready within the next 4-6 weeks, and that the interview process is already underway.
Another fan asked about the development of youth players, and Erik replied that he has spent the last few days talking to the various youth coaches at the parent club in order to optimize the academy setup. It was also said that the new owners prioritize the development of the academy and to keep talented players in their own ranks, so that they are not recruited by larger clubs in the area. Based on this, an agreement has also been made that ensures that more money is continuously invested in the academy development over a longer period.
Erik concluded by thanking everyone for their patience, objectivity and good questions. It was an important meeting for the fans, where they had the opportunity to hear about the club’s future plans and ask questions. It also shows that the management of AB Gladsaxe is responsive to the fans’ concerns and wants to involve them in the club’s development.
