Defeat to Middelfart

AB Gladsaxe played against Middelfart on Saturday at Gladsaxe Stadium. It was another battle for important points. However, the game ended with a 3-1 defeat. AB’s lone scorer was Yushi Yamaha, who reduced the score to 3-1 in the referee’s overtime.

Middelfart’s goal to make it 1-0 was scored shortly before the break, it was 2-0 after 78 minutes and 3-0 after 87 minutes.

AB lined up with Marcus Bobjergon goal. A four-man defense with a central defense with Pachanga Kristensen and with Adrien Koudelka. On the left side of the defence was Rasmus Brodersen and on the right side of the defence was Yael Liesdek. The central midfield consisted of Ægir Jarl Jonasson and Daniel A. Pedersen with Agúst Hlynsson in front of them. O’Vonte Mullings was on the right wing and Steven Simpson on the left wing. In the middle of the attack, there was room for Onesime Tembe.

Compared to the last game, Flamur Dzelili was out with an injury and Mikkel Brund, Christian Wagner and Frederik Lindgaard took a place on the bench. During the match, Frederik Lindgaard, Yushi Yamaya and Mikkel Brund came on the field. Out went Steven Simpson, Yael Liesdek and Pachanga Kristensen.

AB got off to a good start and pressed high. During the first 2o minutes, it was an even game, where AB sat well on the game. However, AB often lapsed into long shifts, where the ball only occasionally hit an AB. AB also lost the second balls and therefore did not have the ball for very long in their own game. Middelfart had a corner kick, where AB’s defense kicked the ball forward on the field, and Onesime Tembe took a long sprint towards goal, where he lost the ball.

Middelfart had a good finish, which Marcus Bobjerg managed. Subsequently, he ended up in a confrontation with Middelfart’s Jacob Dyrborg Linnet. It resulted in a yellow card for the Middelfart player and a red card for Marcus Bobjerg, which the AB goalkeeper has subsequently apologized for on AB’s social media.

Albert Gaub took over the goal. Onesime Tembe left the field after Gaub’s substitution.

It didn’t change much in the game that AB was reduced to ten men. AB retired on the field. Middelfart lurked for chances and there were also signs of it. However, it was not until shortly before the break that a shot from a little outside the box from Middelfart’s Jonas Villemoes, was deflected, and cheated Albert Gaub in the goal.

AB went into the 2nd half with energy and chased the equalizer. AB made an offensive substitution and sent Yushi Yamaya on the field and Yael Liesdek left the field. In the 78th minute, Middelfart’s Malthe Boesen pulled into the box on AB’s right defensive side and shot at goal. Once again, the ball was deflected and landed in the goal for a 2-0 lead to Middelfart.

After 87 minutes, Oscar Obel Hall got completely free and dribbled into a good position and scored to make it 3-0 to Middelfart.

AB’s loyal supporters got an encouragement when Yushi Yamaya reduced the score to 1-3 with a magnificent long-range goal.

After the game, head coach Joey Gudjonsson highlighted the players’ hard work throughout the game, and he hopes for more luck in the coming games:

“It was a very difficult game for us. However, I think the players were willing to work really hard. We were unlucky with the first two goals. At the first goal, the players were right in defence, but then Middelfart got a lucky opportunity when a finish hit a player in the back, was deflected and went into the goal. It was a random chance and if the shot hadn’t hit one of our players, the shot would have ended up in the goalkeeper’s hands.

Of course, we tried to create the opportunity to equalize, when Middelfart again got a counterattack. It was again a shot that was deflected and went into the goal. The third goal was clearly offside. I don’t know why it wasn’t refereed, because there was clearly offside.
Difficult situation but we kept going and the boys tried really hard and showed character but it wasn’t our day.

Obviously, we have to keep up the hard work and work our way out of a difficult period. We were unlucky today, but by working hard, we can also work to get luck on our side,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

Captain Daniel A. Pedersen points out that Sunday must be used to get over the game, but that everyone must be ready on Monday to work really hard:

“It will be a different game than we had hoped for after we become ten men. Obviously, that makes it difficult. It’s annoying the first two goals they get. There are two screeds. The first 25 minutes, when we were full, it is an even game with many duels and fights.

That’s how many games start, and then you work your way into the game from there. It’s hard to put this game into words. We have to go home and out on the training ground and continue working. There is nothing else to do. We must stand together and turn it around. We need tomorrow to get over this game. Then we are ready to show up on Monday and work really hard. It’s about getting a good week of training and being ready for the next game,” says Daniel A. Pedersen.

The next match is on Saturday 12 October at 1 pm against Ishøj IF in Ishøj Sports and Leisure Centre.
