AB Gladsaxe played today against Middelfart, and it was not a good day for AB at Middelfart Stadium. There was otherwise lovely late summer weather and fantastic support from many AB fans who had made the trip to Middelfart. Unfortunately, they saw an AB team that did not play up to last weekend’s level.
Layton Ndukwu started on the pitch and Lucas Ørneborg took a place on the bench. This gave the following starting line-up:

The game started straight and the first chance fell to Middelfart, who after 9 minutes had a shot close to Albert Gaub-Jacobsen’s goal. After 20 minutes, AB gets a free kick on the right side of the pitch, and Layton Ndukwu shoots a sharp cross, which the defense parries over the back line. The ensuing corner kick ends in a good finish, which Middelfart’s goalkeeper manages with a giant save. The ball ends up in the hands of Christian Espensen Troelsen, who is free in front of goal – but the finish ends up over the goal.
After 29 minutes, things went wrong when a kick from Albert Gaub-Jacobsen to Daniel A. Pedersen unfortunately is mistimed and Robert Kakeeto gets hold of the ball and can send it into the goal to make it 1-0.
In attack, Tim Freriks had a hard time, and did not come to decisive finishes. A cross from Daniel A. Pedersen gave a good opportunity to Tim Freriks, but unfortunately he heads past the goal.
In the 2nd half, Middelfart again set the pace and had chances that could have increased their lead. The crossbar saved the shards for AB after a finish, and Adrien Koudelka delivered very good defensive play, as he elegantly played the ball from a completely free Middelfart player, who was completely free close to goal. In overtime, Albert Gaub-Jacobsen again had to pull out a great save, when a Middelfart player again, stood completely free in front of goal. Shortly before the referees’ final whistle, Emiliano Gomez fired a good shot but past the goal.
Game 8 in the regular season was not the best game. Now it is a matter of quickly shaking off the defeat and looking forward to the cup match on Tuesday.

Captain Daniel A. Pedersen had this statement after the game: “It didn’t go so well today. It was not a good game from our side. We lack continuity in our game and in our performance. We must get better and we must do so quickly. Fortunately, we have a game already on Tuesday, but it was annoying to lose today. We have to set the pace ourselves in this game and we have to be better at setting the pace. When we want to walk, we have to do it faster and with movements with the ball. It’s a bit too often that we play too slowly. We need to improve on that.”

Head coach David Roufpanah had this statement: “It’s one of those tough away games. It becomes extra difficult when we have to go to the break behind 0-1. Middelfart know how to play on the result. We are becoming too passive today and we are making too late decisions. We must be more courageous in the game ahead. We have to dare to play faster.

Middelfart is the team that has conceded the fewest goals, so they are very good in defence. We’re going to play in a way that’s better for them than for ourselves.”

The next match is a cup match against FA 2000, which will be played on Tuesday 26. September at 19.30 in Frederiksberg Sports Park.
