AB Gladsaxe played this evening the 6th tournament match of the season. The opponent was FC Roskilde, and 803 spectators showed up for the match in Roskilde Sports Park. In relation to the match against Esbjerg fB, Daniel A. Pedersen was not on the team sheet due to an injury. Hørdur Askham played international matches for the Faroe Islands, and Ilias Namli started on the bench. They were replaced by Pachanga Kristensen, Killian van Mil and Christian Wagner. Adrien Koudelka had taken over the captain’s armband in today’s match.

The starting line-up was as follows:

16 Albert Gaub-Jacobsen

3 Erik Lindell

4 Adrien Koudelka

5 Rasmus Brodersen

11 Killian van Mil

19 Christian Wagner

22 Tim Freriks

24 Mark Garly

27 Emiliano Arietta

28 Emiliano Gomez

35 Pachanga Kristensen

AB started well and put pressure on FC Roskilde in the first 15-20 minutes of the match. Thus, a free kick was executed well by Killian van Mil, where the goalkeeper had to go all the way up in the corner to save the shot. As the 1st half progressed, FC Roskilde fought their way into the game and had several dangerous corner kicks. Albert Gaub-Jacobsen had several good saves, and the central defense stood well. In particular, the very young Pachanga Kristensen should be highlighted for extremely well-executed defensive work. Tim Freriks had several chances on headers, but it didn’t really work out today. After 43 minutes, FC Roskilde got a cross, which after two attempts ended in the goal for the lead 1-0, the goal was scored by Selim Baskaya.

The second half started with great pressure from Roskilde’s side. AB’s play with the high balls continued, and AB lost the ball quickly. There were chances for van Mil, who went over the middle and sent a good shot towards goal, and Tim Freriks had several headers, but the finishes lacked the last. FC Roskilde had several big chances in the last 20 minutes of the game, but only when Lasse Emil Nielsen combined past AB’s defense and sent a good shot off, the ball ended up in the goal for the lead 2-0. Throughout most of the game, AB had a hard time setting the game. It was usually long balls played across the middle. This made it difficult for AB to get combinations started, and therefore there were a lot of duel games.

Head coach David Roufpanah said after the game: “The first 25 minutes we controlled the game. Then we made a mistake on a corner kick, so they scored a goal. In the second half we started okay. I think we worked hard, but we have to be honest and say that in the last 20 minutes we have to play better and take better care of the ball. We fought well and we worked hard, but we have to play more and make better decisions. Occasionally, the game may contain long balls, but not all the time. Next week we have to train hard and prepare for the next game.”

Captain Adrien Koudelka said: “It’s disappointing – we lost the game. We shouldn’t have lost. In the first half we played an acceptable game, we created some chances and had good control defensively. In the second half, it was just a wild game, very hectic back and forth. To be honest, we had good chances, but they scored two goals and we didn’t score.”
