Defeat in Køge – no goals to take home
AB Gladsaxe traveled to Køge earlier today to play the fourth training match in the start-up against NordicBet Liga team HB Køge. After three wins in a row, two of which were against NordicBet Liga teams, this time it was a 5-0 defeat. HB Køge pressed AB high up the pitch from the start of the match. AB had a hard time setting the game and often played long balls forward on the pitch. HB Køge went 1-0 up after 3 min. and 2-0 after 8 minutes. After that, AB got better in the game and had several chances to score. For example, Christoffer Thrane was completely free in front of HB Køge’s goal, but missed a great chance on the goalkeeper. AB also had a goal disallowed for offside in the referee’s opinion. HB Køge also made it 3-0 after 36 minutes. and that was the result of the first half. In the second half, a number of substitutions were made and the entire AB squad came into play except goalkeeper Oliver Børner. HB Køge went further ahead 4-0 in the 50th minute. and it was also 5-0 before the referee blew the whistle. In the latter part of the match, AB put together several good attacks at a high tempo and with several good crosses from the edges. In several periods, AB also managed to defend well against HB Køge’s pressure. The defeat can’t be argued against, but AB had several opportunities to get on the board. On Saturday there is a training match again, where AB will travel to Frederiksberg to play FA 2000. A match where AB must learn from what happened today against HB Køge and find their rhythm again. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune says: “It was a good time to get a little scratch in the nose. We had a good game today, but things didn’t go our way. When we look on the bright side, I think we create some good chances and can score 1-2 maybe 3 goals. Then there are big mistakes and some details that don’t go our way. We exposed some holes in the cheese today, and we need to get back on the training pitch and work on those challenges. That’s basically why we’re facing such a good team. It’s to test ourselves in a stronger context, and we got that today. There was a difference between where the two teams were in terms of being ready for the start of the season and you could see that. The small details made it an uphill battle for us. There is plenty to work on, we go out on the training pitch and work on closing those gaps, and it’s good that we get them addressed now”. Oliver Børner did not take the field today – otherwise the whole squad was in action.Starting line-up:Tobias Brogaard (goal)Gustav Overgaard HansenMarcus Mustac GudmannAdrien KoudelkaOliver AngusEmiliano ArrietaAlessio AlicinoMarcelo RandolfFrederik EllegaardEmil WassChristoffer Thrane
