Defeat against Fremad Amager

On Friday evening, the two top teams, Fremad Amager and AB Gladsaxe, played the important battle for position as number one in the table. It didn’t go very well for AB, as it was not only a 3-0 defeat, but also a poor performance. Fortunately, only seven games have been played, so there are still a lot of points to play for.

The match was attended by 1,274 spectators and it provided a nice backdrop, where both teams’ loyal fans throughout the match contributed to a good atmosphere on the stands.

AB had made one change to the starting line-up compared to the last match against Thisted FC. Flamur Dzelili was replaced on the wing by Steven Simpson.

In goal was Marcus Bobjerg, in central defense Adrien Koudelka and Mikkel Brund. The left side of the defense played Rasmus Brodersen and on the right side of defense Yael Liesdek. In the central midfield were Søren Ilsøe and Ægir Jarl Jonasson with A Gúst Hlynsson in front of him. On the wings was Steven Simpson and O’Vonte Mullings and at the very top was Christian Wagner with Agúst Hlynsson by his side.

During the 2nd half, Flamur Dzelili replaced Christian Wagner, Onesime Tembe replaced Steven Simpson, Pachanga Kristensen came in instead of Yael Liesdek, Frederik Lindgaard came in instead of Søren Ilsøe and at the end of the game Emil Mygind came on the field and replaced Ægir Jarl Jónasson.

From the start of the match, Fremad Amager put the best off the ground. With quick transitions, they came forward well on the field, and AB did not manage to get a grip on the game. AB played a lot up to the front attackers, who then got into a duel, but they failed to keep the ball. So there were no chances either.

Fremad Amager had several chances, and after 34 minutes, Alexander Petraeus was able to dribble through AB’s right defensive side and finish with a well-placed shot in the far corner. A 1-0 lead to Fremad Amager lasted until the break, in a half where AB did not create any big chances.

AB came out really well for the 2nd half and put a lot of pressure on Fremad Amager’s goal and with good combinations played along the ground. However, a ball loss in the middle ruined the good start, when Mads Høyer Julø in the 56th minute could score to make it 2-0 on a quick conversion. Now it became really difficult for AB, and only 3 minutes later Alexander Petraeus brought the score to 3-0.

However, AB did not give up and showed good morale. There were a few opportunities, but no goals came out of the effort. The game ended 3-0, and it was Fremad Amager who kept first place.

The captain of the match, Søren Ilsøe, did not mince words when he gave his view on the match against Fremad Amager.

“We were very poor today, so there is not much to say. They were dominant throughout the game. We never really got a foothold, and it just must never happen again. I can’t exactly answer why it turned out the way it did. I can’t put that into words now, so I have to watch the game again. We just weren’t there from the first to the last minute at any point. We need to go home and have it analyzed,” Søren Ilsøe concludes.

After the game, head coach Joye Gudjonsson did not express any positive words, and with great determination he said that the performance was not acceptable.

“It was a deserved victory for Fremad Amager. They were better in all respects, they were physically strong and they outplayed us in periods and they made better decisions. We didn’t have a good day at all. It was a very disappointing performance. We didn’t play with enough determination, had too soft passes and gave the ball away.”

“It was obvious that I have also made some mistakes today in the way I have set up the team. It’s not at all the team I want AB to be. Not only the players, but the entire staff have had a terrible day today. We have to make sure that it doesn’t happen again, because it wasn’t acceptable,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

The next match will be played on Saturday 21 September 2024 at 14:00 against Skive at Gladsaxe Stadion.
