AB Gladsaxe played earlier today against Nykøbing FC at Gladsaxe Stadium. There were important points at stake in the battle to finish in the Top-6 in the regular season. In relation to the game against Skive, Rasmus Brodersen was back on the left side of the defence and Mark Garly Pedersen took a place on the bench. Mikkel Brund was preferred in central defence, Daniel A. Pedersen had moved forward in midfield and replaced Søren Ilsøe, who took a place on the bench. The match was attended by 478 spectators and ended with a victory for Nykøbing of 3-2 after a completely insane end to the match that lasted 100 minutes.

The starting line-up with substitutions and substitutions:

16 Albert Gaub-Jacobsen (goalkeeper)

6 Daniel A. Pedersen

34 Mikkel Brund goes out and Søren Ilsøe comes on the field

Head coach David Roufpanah said after the game: “If we only look at ourselves, we create so many chances that it’s crazy that we don’t score more goals. The only problem we have in the 1st half is that we play the ball a little too slowly. We also lose a bit of our compactness in our defensive play. But it’s an okay 1st half. We start really well and create some big chances. In the 2nd half, there is only a game against one goal. Of course, we get some counters against us when we push so hard. We went on the pitch to win the game and even though we equalized towards the end of the game, we still went for the win. Frankly, I do not want to change that. We pressed to win the game in overtime. We felt that we as a team could win the game and we were at home in front of our spectators, so we clearly went for the win. We must be really sad today, and then we have to get 100% ready for the match against Fremad Amager on Monday”.

Nykøbing’s goal to make it 1-0 fell after the 21st minute on a free kick a few meters outside the goal area. It was a really good shot directly over the wall and into the top corner, well done by Nykøbing’s Willads Blaxkjær Delvin. Almost 10 minutes later, a Nykøbing player runs directly towards the goal. Albert Gaub-Jacobsen comes down too late to the ball and hits the player. The referee awards a penalty, which Asger Højmark Jensen safely shoots into the goal for a 2-0 lead. AB pressed more and came to more shooting opportunities, but it was not shots that gave the goal. Good advice was expensive during the break.

AB came energetically on the field and only needed about 1 minute before a really good cross from Erik Lindell ended up with Tim Freriks, who scored and reduced the score to 2-1. The game was then completely open, and AB put even more pressure on. There was a lot of good play, while Nykøbing actually only played on transitions. Nykøbing needed to slow down the time, as they had gradually got a couple of injured players and seemed to be marked by the pace. After the 77th minute comes the best chance of the game, where a good corner kick combination and a pass behind, gave Darren Sideol the opportunity to score. It was also close to the post, but on the wrong side. After 86 min. Tim Freriks headers past the goal. Finally, the golden chance comes to Agust Hlynsson, who can equalize to 2-2. Here the official time has passed. Sometimes you have to play to not lose, and maybe settle for an equalizer in overtime after being 2-0 behind. AB, however, continued the fight to win the 3 points and continued to push on. However, no more than 1 minute passed, then Nykøbing got a conversion, and Andreas Pedersen Bredahl could score to lead 3-2. AB presses tremendously in the referee’s overtime, which lasted until 100 minutes and has probably 4-5 corner kicks, which had opportunities in them, but not chances that led to goals.

After the game, captain Daniel A. Pedersen said: “It’s annoying when we had just come back into the game and had the belief that we could come up and win the game, that we then get such a throw in the head. It’s our own fault that we lose the game, there’s no doubt about that. It’s incredibly bitter. We make too many mistakes in the 1st half, and there is too far between the chains. In the 2nd half, we are much closer and push the team up. This makes it difficult for Nykøbing to find the balls they found in the 1st half. But we come back to 2-2 and I think we play a good 2nd half. We create enough chances to win the game – but we give them 3 goals.” AB must once again leave the field without a win. This leads to two unusually exciting matches in the regular season. Here, victory is basically a requirement if the 6th place is to continue to be held.

The next match will be played on Easter Sunday, April 1 at 19:00 against Fremad Amager in Sundby Idrætspark.
