AB Gladsaxe played tonight against Fremad Amager in Sundby Idrætspark. It was a battle for important points in the race for a position in the TOP-6 in the regular season. It was not a good night for AB. Fremad Amager managed to score 5 minutes into the referee’s overtime on a direct free kick that was deflected into the wall. AB got off to a good start and already after 2 minutes AB has a shot on the post after a free kick on the left side. AB sits on the game and plays his way through. Ágúst Hlynsson sends a cross into the box, where the ball ends up with Erik Lindell, who sends a hard shot towards goal. Unfortunately, the shot is blocked by a defender. After 20 minutes, Fremad Amager gets more play and gets on the game. Fremad Amager got the game over on their terms, and at the same time they went hard physically to Tim Freriks, who then had a hard time keeping the ball. AB had a hard time setting the game, and it developed into a duel game, where AB shot long balls forward on the field. Fremad Amager had several chances, but without scoring. The teams went to the break with the score 0-0.
In the 2nd half, Fremad Amager maintains the game, and they play their way to a few chances. AB’s best attempt came after a pass from Daniel A. Pedersen to Ágúst Hlynsson, who made a move towards the box and played behind to Erik Lindell, who unfortunately had to see his shot go past the goal. A Fremad Amager player becomes completely free in front of goal, but shoots just past. Tim Freriks plays himself a good opportunity, but there too the ball went past the goal.
AB gets a corner kick and Tim Freriks reaches high up, but the chance doesn’t materialize. The referee’s whistle sounds, and he assesses that Tim Freriks in the situation has made an offence, which he rates to a direct red card. 5 minutes into the referee’s overtime, Fremad Amager scores directly on a free kick and wins 1-0.
Head coach David Roufpanah said after the game: “After 20 minutes in the first half, we are going to be too low. We don’t get the pressure as we should. Then we lose momentum for the rest of the 1st half. In the 2nd half, I don’t think we played the ball enough over the edge, so we didn’t open up the game so we can play two against one on the edge. We don’t get the ball into their penalty area enough to create enough chances. We get a few good chances that we don’t score on and then it gets tough. Then we get a red card and then it becomes really difficult. Then they get a free kick outside the box and as it sometimes happens, they score on it. It was too much with long balls and it is really bad on artificial turf. Now we have to gather strength for the match against Middelfart and win that match”.
