Asger Højmark-Jensen is new striker
AB’s supporters and coaching staff already know their new striker very well. As a striker in Vanløse and Hillerød, he has scored against AB for both clubs. Now he gets the opportunity to score goals in the green jersey. AB has signed Asger Højmark-Jensen, who joins the club from the promoted Nordic Bet Ligaen side Hillerød.
“I’m switching to AB because of the ambitions, the project and the fact that it’s a big and traditional club. It has always been exciting to play against AB as a club with a big stadium and a long history,” says Asger Højmark-Jensen. AB’s head coach Patrick Braune has had to prepare his players several times for the meeting with Højmark-Jensen. Now he looks forward to being able to utilize the striker’s skills in his own team. “We’re getting a striker who gives us something different than what we already have. We have some smaller, fast strikers, and here we get a player with more physicality and size, which opens up new opportunities for us,” says Braune. Asger Højmark-Jensen has played against AB for both Vanløse and Hillerød. Last season it happened three times, and the tall striker scored in two of the matches in his personally most successful season. The striker was on the cusp of an impressive fall in 2021, scoring 13 goals for Hillerød in as many games before a serious injury put an end to the scoring. “He’s had an injury, and we’re now going on a journey together where we’ll try to get him back to his previous level. We look forward to that,” says Patrick Braune. However, Asger Højmark-Jensen has played matches for Hillerød in the 2022 spring season as well as this season. In fact, he has been scoring goals in the Nordic Bet Liga when he has been given the chance in Hillerød’s starting line-up. Now he’s moving to AB, which no doubt makes some of his family quite happy. “My mother’s family are huge AB fans, so the club has always been a part of my life,” he says, describing himself as a player. “I’m an unorthodox, slightly lanky 9. I’m a player who may look slow, but I actually have some speed. I’m really good at scoring goals and that’s definitely one of my big skills. An inside goal in the corner is a favorite.” Asger Højmark-Jensen joins a top team in the 2nd division, which is facing a very exciting spring. “I expect us to be successful. I see a young squad with a lot of energy and talent that compliments my style of play. I have high expectations for the team,” says Asger Højmark-Jensen, who is looking forward to playing at Gladsaxe Stadium. “I’m looking forward to representing AB and playing in front of the fans. I’m really honored to wear the jersey.”
