Another win for the collection
AB Gladsaxe played a training match against Nykøbing FC earlier today. AB won 2-1, and both goals were scored by Frederik Ellegaard – the second goal on a penalty kick. NFC, ranked 12th in the NordicBet league, got off to the best start with a couple of good attacks. AB got into the game quickly and stood very high on the pitch. It was the ultimate pressure, with the back line of defense almost on the halfway line. It was difficult for NFC to establish attacks, and AB continued the tactics from the previous training matches with high tempo play with safe and incisive passes. Frederik Ellegaard had a chance for a quick goal already after 15 minutes, but unfortunately he was offside. One of the highlights of the day was seeing Daniel Warmbach back on the pitch. He has been out with an injury that has forced him off the pitch for 2 years. Emil Mygind attempted a cross, but NFC managed to block the subsequent shot, which was unsuccessful. NFC quickly attacked, but AB’s strong back line was denied. After half an hour, Emil Mygind drives the ball forward, plays Albert Nørager, who shoots across the box to Frederik Ellegaard who scores 1-0. NFC comes closer and has a couple of great chances after a conversion. The situation ends with a shot that is saved by a well-playing Albert Gaub-Jakobsen in goal. The ball goes back into play and the next shot is blocked by Markus Mustac Gudmann. AB stays close to NFC for most of the half and puts them under pressure. AB created more chances than NFC and deservedly went into the break with a lead. From the start of the second half, NFC gets more play and after 7 min. NFC equalizes to make the score 1-1. AB continues to work. Frederik Ellegaard does one of his specialties: Out on the edge and get the ball, into the box and is felled. Frederik Ellegaard puts the ball in the net himself to make it 2-1. Both teams have a number of substitutions, and especially for AB, it makes for a different game. During the half, AB starts to play out of position and lose cohesion. However, there are moments of quality for long periods. After the match, head coach Patrick Braune said: “Good training match. It’s a good team we’re facing. They try a lot of rotations in the center. Nykøbing is a team that wants to play and that gives us some different challenges than against the other two teams we’ve faced. They want to play short, they’re really good at lying back and making it difficult for us to put pressure on them. It’s a big challenge, but we’re slowly but surely getting the hang of it. We’re playing really well for the most part. I’m a bit sad about the last half hour. It’s too messy and we get a bit too exposed there. But that’s what we need the training matches for”.
