AB Gladsaxe played against Thisted FC at Gladsaxe Stadion earlier today. 569 spectators had found their way to Gladsaxe Stadion in the beautiful sunny weather. Before the match started, announcer Allan Petersen encouraged the audience to stand up and clap to mark Knud Lundberg’s 103rd birthday today
. Knud Lundberg has meant a lot to AB’s entire history, both on and off the field. In today’s match, Søren Ilsøe was in the starting lineup and replaced Emiliano Gomez, who was on the bench. Marcelo Randolf replaced Asger Højmark-Jensen. Marcelo Randolf and Frederik Ellegaard played on the wings, but diligently settled into the number nine position. This made AB’s attack very dangerous. Frederik Lindgaard made his debut at Gladsaxe Stadium. AB Gladsaxe has not lost a match against Thisted FC this season. Today’s match ended 2-2. Thisted FC started the match hard from the start. It was as if they were about to run the long bus ride out of their legs. But quietly and steadily AB gained control of the match. After just 7 minutes, Silas Trier Madsen took a shot outside the box, and the ball ended up in the corner for the lead of 1-0.
AB had several chances to take the lead further. Frederik Ellegaard tried a shot from outside the box, but unfortunately he missed. Søren Ilsøe also tried a well-placed long-range shot. Marcelo Randolf accelerated, dribbled past several Thisted players and got the ball, but was tackled just outside the box. Unfortunately, Alessio Alicino sent the ball the wrong way when clearing in the box, and it ended with an own goal and equalizing to 1-1. After that, Thisted got into the game better, but it was AB who came in front when Frederik Ellegaard scored to make it 2-1 after a brilliant pass from Silas Trier Madsen, who lifted the ball behind the defense. The goal meant that Frederik Ellegaard is still number 1 on the top scorer list in the 2nd division. The first half ended with a free kick just outside the box, but unfortunately Marcus Gudmand shot over the goal. Thisted FC started the second half as expected by putting pressure on AB, who were at times pressed far back on the field. This gave Thisted FC good opportunities for chances, but they did not take advantage of the pressure. AB had several chances, which on a good day could have resulted in goals.
Marcelo Randolf looks for a good cross in the box and heads it on goal, but unfortunately the goalkeeper was in place. In the dying minutes of the match, a penalty kick is awarded when the referee judges that Alfred Nørager is pushing a Thisted player. Christian Hørbye safely converts the penalty kick into a goal and the score becomes 2-2. In the referee’s overtime, the AB players appeal for a penalty kick committed by Thisted FC’s goalkeeper, Andreas Raahauge, but the referee’s whistle remains silent. This leads to a bit of commotion after the match, resulting in a yellow card for both teams and a red card for AB’s goalkeeping coach. Head coach Simon Ervolder Andresen said after the match: “We have just played against Thisted here at home. A well-played match from our side. We are presenting ourselves much better than we did in the last match with energy, attitude and attitude. We are putting together some really good sequences and creating a number of chances. A match we deserve to win. Right now we are somewhat frustrated with some refereeing decisions that we feel go against us. But a great match by the players, a great match by the fans, and then we go to Thisted to win next week.”
Captain Silas Trier Madsen said: “It was great to score in the AB shirt. But apart from that, we think we were the better team and that we should have had the three points. We played the better of the two teams. We might have been a little too far back on the pitch for periods in the second half. But I don’t think they posed a danger at any point and they didn’t create any chances. It’s clear that we were the more dangerous team. I think they got a thin penalty. I don’t see that it should have been a penalty. It’s unfortunate that we only got one point – I think we should have had all three. But we’ll have to get them next weekend in Thisted.”
