Amazing comeback from 0-2 to 4-2 away from home
AB Gladsaxe played tonight’s match against HIK on the artificial turf pitch in Hellerup. It was set up for an exciting match as both teams had 4 points. Everyone in the starting lineup from the match against Frem a week ago was re-elected. The conditions for a good match were present: Friday evening, sunshine and good mood in the stands on the sidelines. It only took 3 minutes for AB to produce a good and well-played attack, where the ball ends up with Christoffer Thrane, who unfortunately hits the post. Just 2 minutes later, a HIK player outplayed Anton Basbas Pedersen in the defense, but Marcus Mustac Gudmann immediately averted the dangerous situation – but the ball landed with a HIK player who sent the ball into the goal to lead 1-0. Not lucky so early in the match. The joy of the game was still there for AB, who sat on the game for much of the first half. After 11 minutes. Albert Nørager sends a cross into the box, where Christoffer Thrane heads the ball into the goal – but the referee called a questionable offside. HIK stall for time and also engage in ugly and unnecessary tackles. AB tries to play around HIK, playing fast and combining well, but the last part was missing. Frederik Ellegaard was brought down in the box. From the outside it looked like a clear penalty, but the referee was silent. There’s a free kick, where at least all AB’s supporters had hoped for a repeat of Marcus Mustac Gudmann’s fantastic free kick goal in the 6-0 match against Frem. However, this time the ball went over the goal. The half ends with another defensive error, allowing HIK to score 2-0. There wasn’t exactly a great atmosphere in the stands when the teams took the field again. But as it always happens, the AB faithful cheered the team on – fantastic! AB now plays faster and creates a few chances. After 13 min. Christoffer Thrane receives the ball in the box and after he nicely takes the ball with him and scores to reduce the score 1-2. Barely 15 minutes later, when AB had increased the pace and kept focus, Albert Nørager made a perfectly executed corner kick and Frederik Ellegaard headed the ball into the goal to equalize 2-2. Just 3 minutes later, Christoffer Thrane is on the hunt again. Frederik Ellegaard is responsible for the opener when he dribbles the ball from HIK’s goalkeeper and cleverly plays the ball back into the box to Christoffer Thrane, who knocks the ball into the goal to give AB a 3-2 lead. Mican Atici ends the goal celebration with a good shot from outside the box – it hits a defender, but that’s football. The game ends 4-2 to AB after a gigantic comeback! After the match, head coach Patrick Birch Braune said: “A crazy comeback today must be the headline of the match. And the end result was fantastic. A first half with defensive mistakes. We feel like we’re being penalized a few times, where it’s millimeters that decide whether we’re offside in the two goals we score and a clear penalty kick that’s not called. We sit at halftime and say to each other that there’s nothing we can do about it. So the only thing we can focus on is making a comeback. We look at each other and everyone agreed on that – and then there was just a positive atmosphere that we had to go out and deliver something. And that’s what we did. With an absolutely fantastic victory after being 2-0 down at half-time”. Captain Silas Trier Madsen said after the match: “What can you say? We’re just so incredibly happy and proud. We’re at half-time and we’re 2-0 down. We’re just so damn annoyed to be behind. We think we had the most control of the match. We’re the ones who create a lot of chances. We scored two goals that were disallowed. They score some goals on mistakes we make. So we sit at halftime and look each other in the eye and say to ourselves that we can easily win this game. Because we’re a really good football team and we go out and do it. It’s just a fantastic team performance and it shows that we have a lot of winning mentality in the club. We just really want to win and that’s what we do – it’s just really great”. Starting line-up with substitutions: 3 Gustav Overgård Hansen 4 Anton Basbas Pedersen 7 Frederik Ellegaard out – 9 Emil Mygind in 8 Emil Wass 11 Oliver Angus out – 5 Adnan Curovic in 17 Christoffer Thrane out – 23 Mican Atici in 18 Simon Holden out – 21 Alessio Alicino in 19 Albert Nørager 22 Silas Trier Madsen 25 Tobias Brogaard (goal) 30 Marcus Mustac Gudmann
