All hands to Valby
The stage is set for another classic showdown between two of the oldest football clubs in Denmark when AB Gladsaxe travels to Valby tomorrow, Saturday October 22, to face BK Frem. The match referee Martin Egtved Munch Jørgensen starts the match at 14.00 in Valby Idrætspark. The games in the first half of the playoffs have been played. The teams will now face each other for the second time before the basic game ends in April 2023. Frem is in 10th place in the tournament and comes into the match with two very narrow defeats of 1-2 first to B93 and most recently to FC Roskilde. In contrast, AB won 2-1 last Saturday at the difficult away ground in Thisted. So the stage is set for a close match. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune says: “We had a really good experience against Frem last time we met them. It’s also one of the warning signs we need to be careful that it doesn’t lead to complacency. We got a really important win in Thisted on Saturday. Now a match against Frem awaits, where seriousness will be the main topic. We have to go out and play another game against Frem – that’s important to say. It’s a difficult match to play against Frem in Valby Idrætspark. Historically, we’ve struggled against Frem, but we’ve had the upper hand in the last few games. They will of course come out with a glow in their eyes and hurt us. We must be very aware of the task ahead of us and not be complacent in any way. We need to make sure we’re there on the day. Because you have to be really good to beat Frem, who have played really well, but have been unlucky not to get so many points. They’ll get points at some point, I’m sure of it, because there’s quality in that team”. Back in the squad are Alessio Alicino after suspension and Mican Atici after illness before the last game. Lucas Koch is still serving a ban. Abdul-Rauf Sulemana and Christian Espersen Troelsen are out of the squad. The gross squad from which the coaching team can choose the starting line-up: 1 Oliver Børner Thorup (goal) 3 Gustav Overgård Hansen 4 Anton Basbas Pedersen 5 Adnan Curovic 7 Frederik Ellegaard 8 Emil Wass 9 Emil Mygind 11 Oliver Angus 13 Mads Vang 14 James Iheme 17 Christoffer Thrane 19 Albert Nørager 20 Marcus Hørbye 21 Alessio Alicino 22 Silas Trier Madsen 23 Mican Atici 25 Tobias Brogaard (goal) 30 Marcus Mustac Gudmann The starting line-up will be published on Facebook one hour before the referee whistles the match.
