Adrien Koudelka joins AB
AB continues to strengthen ahead of the spring season. German defender Adrien Koudelka has joined AB from German club Freiberg. AB has signed a contract with Koudelka, which will continue until the summer of 2027.
20-year-old Koudelka has previously played in the German Bundesliga for youth players for Augsburg as well as for the club’s second team. He has also played 13 games for the German U-17 national team. A German defender who always leads from the front, he is now ready to play for AB. “I always try to give everything for the team. My strengths lie in defending and in my mentality, but I also try to get involved in the games with my playing skills,” says Adrien Koudelka. Head coach Patrick Braune is looking forward to having a classic German defender in the team. “It’s a defender with a good size and physique that fits the German way of being a defender, where you want to press high and you dare to do so. It fits the way we’ve played in the last six months,” he says. Braune hopes that with Koudelka he gets a player who will make a difference. “I hope that it’s a foreign player who will come and help to lift us. He’s still a player who has a lot to learn and we hope he can continue to do that in AB.” The German defender himself emphasizes. “You can expect me to give 100 percent, whether it’s in a match or in training. The success of the team is above everything for me.”
Along with Dutch goalkeeper Indy Groothuizen, Adrien Koudelka is one of the foreign players that AB’s new majority shareholder has brought to the club. Otherwise, a number of existing Danish profiles have been extended, and a couple of Danish players have been brought to the club. The ambitions of the new owners and the path to reach the goal was one of the things that appealed to Adrien Koudelka when he heard about the interest from AB and the country from the north. “Denmark is a great country with a very high lifestyle. I heard about the AB project and I was very interested from the beginning. We had some good conversations and after that I didn’t have to think for a long time,” says Adrien Koudelka. According to the new defender, one of the important elements of AB’s success will be that the team and the players manage to quickly integrate the new players into the already very harmonious group that in the fall season played the team to third place here at the winter break. “I know that a lot of new things have happened at the club in a short time, and I hope that we as a team quickly become a unit. If that happens, I’m sure we can achieve great success. My expectations of myself are that I can contribute and help lift the team even more,” says Adrien Koudelka.
