AB Gladsaxe will take on Esbjerg fB on Saturday at 15:00 at Gladsaxe Stadium. It will be an interesting match, because it is the 2nd division’s absolute top team that AB will be up against. Esbjerg fB is number one in the 2nd division with four points down to number 2, which is currently Aarhus Fremad. Esbjerg fB comes to Gladsaxe with a frightening 5-1 win over Thisted FC behind them. Esbjerg fB were even behind 1-0.
AB must thus step up a level compared to last week’s 2-2 match against FA 2000 in Frederiksberg, to achieve a good result in Saturday’s match. The team has also proven in several periods of the matches that they can play at a really high level, so we cross our fingers that it happens throughout the match against Esbjerg fB. AB’s offensive player Tim Freriks is number one on the top scorer list with four goals, and is closely followed by former AB player Emil Holten, who has scored 3 goals for Esbjerg fB.
The last clash between the two teams dates back to the end of May, when the two teams played 1-1 in the promotion play-off at Gladsaxe Stadium. Referee Allan Staal will lead the course of the battle and on the lines he has Ulrik Gøtze and Simon Rosenlund.
Head coach David Roufpanah said: “We are going to face the top team tomorrow and these are the best games you can get. There will be a lot of fans from both teams, so there will be a good atmosphere. Esbjerg is a good team with a lot of experience and has won all the games, so it will be a big challenge. But we will do everything to take points. We have spent a lot of time in the training week looking at what kind of football game should be ours in the long term and that is the most important thing. When we go out to the games, we always have to give ourselves 100%, but we also have a long-term project and we have to respect that.”
Defender Rasmus Brodersen is looking forward to the match: “I think it will be a really cool match. We are very much looking forward to it. They have had a good start, but we believe that we can tease them. We have trained with good intensity all week, and we are working purposefully and focused after the weekend’s game and strive to get 3 points”.
