AB goes for victory against Skive

A close and exciting match awaits when Skive visits Gladsaxe Stadium tomorrow, Friday 2 May 2025 at 19:00.

AB Gladsaxe are hungry for a win in the promotion play-offs after defeats against Aarhus Fremad and Middelfart. The same goes for Skive, who have drawn with Middelfart, butn most recently lost at home at Hancock Arena with 2–0 to Næstved.

The two teams are also close to each other in the table. Disk Is Number five with 33 point and AB Is number six with 31 point.

AB has Tobias Hageltorn and Marco Ramkilde in quarantine. Skive has Oliver Kaastrup Østergaard in quarantine.

The two games against Skive in the regular season were both played in 2024. In September AB lost 2-1 at Gladsaxe Stadion. At the end of October, it was 00 at Hancock Arena. A match that Could have gone either way. Should there have been a winner in that game, it probably had to have beent AB, who had great chances, and where Skive, among other things, saves twice on the line.

The last eight games will also be used as preparation for next season. The promotion is realistically gone, but AB will and must go for the win and play up to its best in each only match both for AB’s own sake, but also in respect for the tournament and the other teams.

Søren Ilsøe thinks that the team is good at moving on after a defeat:

After the matches against Aarhus Fremad and Middelfart we have really worked on some things that we think should be improved. We have togo back to the way we played in the opening games and the games we won afterwards.

We have to play with confidence and be clear in our heads that we are also playing to be 100% ready for next season. We take one game at a time. It may well be that we lose some points , because we practice some things, but that’s how it has to be. Of course, we want to win every game Also tomorrow.

What I like in our locker room is that we quickly shut down the games and then we train for next week’s game. We don’t become better football players by walking around and constantly thinking about the fact that we have lost three games e in a row. Now we’ve picked up, we’ve talked about what it was are, we have just gotten off course and then we have adjusted during the week. We have trained It was really hard and intense in weekn, and we look forward to giving it our all against Skive“, Søren Ilsøe concludes.

Ccoach Joey Gudjonsson is first and foremost looking forward to the match against Skive, but also focuses on the fact that the rest of the season will be used to improve the game:

“Every game is important, because there are always points and position to play for. Realistically, we will not be promoted this year. This means that we focus on improving in all areas of the pitch. We want to have more possession, and more control especially at home. We know that teams that come here at Gladsaxe Stadium are defensively oriented and may just be happy with come away with a draw.

We also expect for the game tomorrow that Skive will be quite defensive, so we must have control of the game both with and without the ball. We will press them and we will put ourselves in situations where we have the opportunity to score goals.

We are still working hard, because we want to win all matches. So while we want to improve, we also want to win games. That applies to the last eight games, but we will also look ahead to next season.

It is not a case that the next eight matches are training matches. We want to win the 2nd division next season, and therefore we must always do our best and train hard so that we can improve, as a team and player by player. Everyone must be able to play under pressure and we must win all games – one by one.

We will also look at the players who have not been given as much playing time and give them the opportunity to show us what they stand for by giving them playing time. We will also look at players from the academy if there are any that we want to bring in by giving them playing time at a higher level. It is also to prepare them for the future.

Out To prepare for next season, we have to work in the matches to beat the best teams – we have to believe in that and find security in that. We lost to Aarhus Fremad and we lost to Middelfart and we want to beat them and also the three other teams that are in the promotion play-offs – and we still have the opportunity to do that for the rest of this season,” concludes Joey Gudjonsson.

The match against Skive will be refereed by Kasper Madsen and he will have Christian Just Brixen and Simon Blond on the lines.
