AB Gladsaxe wins 3-2 over FC Roskilde
An exciting match was set for an exciting match in the effort to get points in the account. 460 spectators showed up at Gladsaxe Stadium to follow the match and most of them to cheer on AB Gladsaxe. Today’s starting lineup was the same as in the victory over Brabrand. It was a very poor first half, where the play on the heavy and difficult pitch from both teams was not flashy. FC Roskilde gradually got further up the pitch and pressured AB in the build-up. This resulted in a lot of long passes that were difficult to work with and were often intercepted by FC Roskilde. FC Roskilde pressed on and after half an hour, Tobias Brogaard had to pull off a great save to block FC Roskilde’s finish. The ball came back into play, but FC Roskilde shot over the goal. Shortly after, Anton Basbas Pedersen headed on goal, but the ball was saved by a defender and sent to the corner. A little later, FC Roskilde’s defense headed the ball out of the box after a corner to AB. Frederik Ellegaard is pulled out of the box and sends the ball over the goalkeeper and into the corner for a 1-0 lead. It’s fair to say that AB takes advantage of the chance when it’s there! The second half is only 3 min. A quick conversion to FC Roskilde results in a corner kick, where FC Roskilde sends the ball into the goal to equalize 1-1. Less than a minute later, Anton Basbas Pedersen headed the ball into the goal, but unfortunately the referee awarded a free kick. The match was open, but without any great chances. It was FC Roskilde who managed to dribble through the defense and score to lead 1-2. FC Roskilde got another quick conversion, but Anton Basbas Pedersen blocked the shot. After a rehearsed corner kick, it was again Marcus Mustac Gudmann who headed the ball into the goal to equalize 2-2. The same combination also produced a great goal in the match against Brabrand. The referee had added at least 6 min. extra time, so it was a nervous crowd that followed the final minutes. 3 min. 3 minutes into injury time, Christoffer Thrane was brought down in the box and a penalty kick was awarded, which Frederik Ellegaard executed to lead 3-2, and that was the result of the match. It was the 5th victory in a row. After the match, head coach Patrick Birch Braune said: “We came on the pitch today to get three points. We’ve distanced ourselves in the table and after today it looks really good. Today there is a lot of praise for the boys and the way they work. There are so many situations where the players have to keep a cool head. Huge heart and huge character in these young AB boys. They deserve huge praise today”. Simon Holden, who was captain again today, said: “I’m a bit in shock somehow. I didn’t expect it to be such a hectic game. We knew it was going to be a tough game. Roskilde have teased us before. They have some good players and a strong team. We also knew that they would come with high pressure, some speed and strength in the duels. As in the last match, it was great that we resisted for most of the match. And then it’s just a crazy ending, where we keep believing in things and fight like crazy. Huge credit to the boys – it was fantastic. It just shows the unity of the team and we keep believing in it, no matter what happens.” The players voted Anton Basbas Pedersen as player of the match. Today’s starting line-up with substitutions: 25 Tobias Brogaard (m) 3 Gustav Overgaard Hansen 4 Anton Basbas Pedersen 7 Frederik Ellegaard 8 Emil Wass out – 23 Mican Atici in 9 Emil Mygind out – 17 Christoffer Thrane in 11 Oliver Angus out – 15 Lucas Koch in 18 Simon Holden 19 Albert Nørager out – 26 Christian Espensen Troelsen in 21 Alessio Alicino out – 14 James Iheme in 30 Marcus Mustac Gudmann The next match – which is the last in the fall – will be played Sunday 20.
