AB Gladsaxe signs a two-year contract with 25-year-old defensive midfielder Darren Sidoel.
Dutch Sidoel got his football upbringing at Ajax Amsterdam, where he managed to play 47 games for the club’s U19 and U21 teams. In addition, he has also played for English Reading FC, Spanish Cordoba CF and Hercules CF, and most recently in the Indian Super League for East Bengal FC.
“We are in a situation where Søren Ilsøe’s rehabilitation after last year’s injury is taking longer than we thought, and the medical team is working hard to get him back. Hakim suffered an injury in an U19 match that will keep him out indefinitely, and with the games in the league and our advancement in the cup, we need to make sure we have quality and competition in every position. We are very happy to be able to bring in a player like Darren right now. Darren is a strong balance player with a good physique, and he is comfortable with the ball. He has received the majority of his football upbringing at Ajax and has played professional football in several countries. It’s good for us to add some experience to our young squad,” Roufpanah says about the new addition to the squad.
The defensive midfielder, who can also play in central defence, as well as in central midfield, is looking forward to getting started.
“I’m really happy to be here! I have been warmly welcomed by the team. We have worked hard towards our game this weekend and now I can’t wait to meet all our fans. The boys have told me that the fans here are fantastic and I can’t wait to meet them in the stadium here on Saturday.”
Watch Darren and the rest of the team play the match against Fremad Amager at Gladsaxe Stadium.
Everyone at AB warmly welcomes Darren to the club.
