AB Gladsaxe won 2-1 earlier today in the second friendly match before the start of the season. The opponent was Concordia, who AB met in northern Hamburg. Mathias Seidel, president of the German club, said before the game: “For us, it’s a good test. It will be a test against a team that we know nothing about. We last won a cup comb
P, but we can’t use that for anything today. We have a young team, so it is both very interesting and exciting.”
Focus on turnover from training to match
Head coach David Roufpanah said before the game: “The game must be used to continue to strengthen our defensive play. We have trained a lot on our attacking play and the elements we have trained, we must try to use in matches, so that it is not just on the training pitch that we can perform it. So that’s our starting point for this fight.”
Concordia Hamburg takes the lead
AB started hard, and already after a minute, AB had the first chance. Unfortunately, it only took two minutes before Concordia took a goal ahead after a too short setback. After that, AB was clearly dominant for the rest of the game, and controlled the game in Concordia’s half of the court. Concordia came a few times in AB’s half of the field, and were dangerous until AB’s defense captured the ball and played nicely out of the Germans’ pressure. AB’s attacking play flowed nicely at times, and it also gave finishes, where Daniel A. Pedersen, among others, sent a shot on the crossbar. AB was several times quickest on the ball after Concordia’s goalkeeper had parried a finish. It gave renewed chances, but it has to be said that the utilization was not very good. Emil Wass came close to scoring when he surprised Concordia’s goalkeeper with a powerful shot. Christian Wagner had several chances, but didn’t quite have the timing right. A long pass to Killian van Mil led to the equalising goal. Concordia gets a free kick on the edge of the box, but Indy Groothuizen in AB’s goal was clear.
Then came AB’s lead goal
Only 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Christian Wagner can score the lead goal to make it 2-1 after a good pass from Marc Garly Petersen. There were a few chances for Concordia. Among other things, an open chance suddenly arose, but Magnus Nissen, who had come in from the start of the 2nd half, blocked the shot nicely. AB continued the attacking play, and had opportunities to convert chances into several goals. Near the end of the game, Concordia got a conversion that they could have taken advantage of for an equalizer
Ing. However, they had not counted on Pachanga Kristensen, who ran the ball up and saved on the line.
We must become sharper
After the game, head coach David Roufpanah said: “We move the ball around the pitch in a good way. We make good use of each other, but together
Still, there is still a lot to work on. We have to get better in the defensive work and we have to have better interplay. But it’s good to have such a trip we’re on this weekend. It’s good for the team and good for the staff. It’s good to have time together. We also get to play a good game. We create lots of scoring chances,
which was our goal for the game, but we have to score many more goals than two, so we have to be sharper. We are already focusing on the next game and on the development of the team.”
