AB extends with top scorer
With 12 goals in the fall season, Frederik Ellegaard Christensen is AB’s top scorer so far this season and number two on the top scorer list in the 2nd division. Now he gets the opportunity to continue playing in green and white. AB has extended his contract with the offensive player until the summer of 2024. Frederik Ellegaard, who has just turned 23, is happy with the extension. “It’s great to get some peace and quiet. It’s been a hectic month, but now things have calmed down and I can focus on playing football. I’ve had to consider a lot of things and make a decision about what to do in terms of my career. It was AB,” says Frederik Ellegaard. Head coach Patrick Birch Braune is pleased that Ellegaard has extended his contract. “It’s really great. He’s done really well in recent seasons and since this summer he’s filled some of the gap that some left when they left the club. High praise for that. There is a trust between club and player and we look forward to making use of his skills in the time to come,” says head coach Patrick Birch Braune. Frederik Ellegaard knows AB quite well. He made his senior debut in AB and is still here. Ellegaard is six games away from reaching 100 appearances for the club. In his 94 AB matches in the 2nd division and the cup tournament, Frederik Ellegaard has scored 28 goals. He says that he has spent a lot of time thinking about things, but he is confident that he has made the right decision by extending his contract. “There are several things that have played a role. The most important is the six months we’ve just gone through. I’ve played at AB for so long that I simply have to give it a chance to see how far we can take it. It’s a good project we’re working on, and the new owners are investing in facilities and the setup around the team,” says Frederik Ellegaard, who is looking forward to showing off in front of the fans again. “I hope they’ll be happy. I’m happy myself. Not least for the support they give the team and me as a player. I’m looking forward to playing for the club and for them,” he says.
