AB and Human Practice Foundation launch joint school project for children in Nepal

AB A/S and Akademisk Boldklub have entered into a non-profit collaboration with the Human Practice Foundation to build a school in Nepal that will give local children better educational opportunities and a brighter future. This project marks an important step for the club in using its platform to create real change outside the football field.

Specifically, AB will raise money to rebuild Indrani Secondary School into a school that gives local children an education and a future they would not otherwise have the prospect of.

The collaboration pleases the CEO of AB A/S, Sofie Brandi Petersen.

“This collaboration fits well into what AB stands for as a club. There is a huge need to bring learning and education to underprivileged areas, where there is virtually no infrastructure and thus educational opportunities.”

“The advantage of collaborating with the Human Practice Foundation is that 100% of the donations go to this particular school, so we can create a direct change in the lives of hundreds of children,” says Sofie Brandi Petersen.

A joint football project with global significance

AB A/S and Akademisk Boldklub join forces to support the Human Practice Foundation’s vision of creating better educational opportunities in one of the world’s most vulnerable areas. In the amateur department, new hoodies are launched, with sales going in full to the construction of Indrani Secondary School, just as the club’s U17 and U19 teams will wear the hoodies when they travel around to matches throughout the country.

Chairman of the football board of Akademisk Boldklub, Kim Ragle, is looking forward to being able to make a difference.

“HPF is an organization with a very noble purpose – building schools and running schools in Nepal and Kenya – and it fits well into our “heart and brain” philosophy and the name “Akademisk Boldklub”.

“We support this organization, and we are happy that in this way we can draw attention to problems in the 3rd world, where raising education is the way out of poverty.”

“Our U17 and U19 teams are now well dressed on match days, and we are happy that they represent the club nicely with the logo on the chest and the Human Practice Foundation on the back,” says Kim Ragle.

Indriani Secondary School has eight classrooms and 570 students.

Maja Buchhave Breiter, Country Manager at the Human Practice Foundation, is also looking forward to the collaboration.

“The Human Practice Foundation is incredibly happy with the collaboration with AB Football. Together, we give 570 students from Indrani Secondary School in northeastern Nepal is a new school and a brighter future,” says Maja Buchhave Breiter.

Exposure on AB’s away shirts

As part of the partnership with AB, Baker Tilly Denmark has chosen to donate the space on the front of the away shirts to the Human Practice Foundation for the rest of the season.

For the rest of the season, AB’s away shirt will be on the front line.

Giving way to focus on a good cause fits well with Baker Tilly’s strategy, says partner in Baker Tilly Denmark, Peter Aagesen.

“Our global motto ‘Now, for tomorrow’ is not just about business, it’s also about people, and their future. So being able to help create a future for the children at the school in Nepal fits well with what we stand for as a company. We are very much looking forward to the whole project,” says Peter Aagesen.

With Baker Tilly’s donation, the project now has an even larger platform that can help increase awareness and engagement around the initiative.

Football, community and change

With this project, AB A/S, Akademisk Boldklub, Baker Tilly and the Human Practice Foundation want to show how sport can be used as a driving force for change.

During the spring season, there will be an ongoing focus on the non-profit collaboration, and a fight will be dedicated to raising money for the school.

All money raised goes in full to the project.
