Akademisk Boldklub A/S has decided to end the collaboration with head coach David Roufpanah with immediate effect. With Roufpanah as head coach, the team qualified for the 2nd division promotion play-offs this season and also reached the quarter-finals of the national cup tournament for the first time in 22 years.
“We appreciate David’s great efforts this season and wish him the best of luck in the future,” says AB A/S’ CEO Sofie Brandi Petersen.
“David has helped strengthen the club’s sporting set-up and foundation. The decision has been made on the basis that we have not seen the development and stability in the team’s play this season that we want.”
“We have a group of good players with great motivation, and we have made this decision so that we can start preparations for next season already now. We have started the process of appointing a new head coach and we will give our fans an update when we have the replacement ready.”
Roufpanah’s coaching staff, assistant coach and video analyst Senthu Ariyanayagam and goalkeeper coach Brian Møllepovl, are also leaving the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best in the future.
“I would like to thank everyone in AB for a great time and send a special thank you for the fantastic cup evenings we had together. I wish the club all the best and hope to see AB back in the Superliga soon,” says David Roufpanah.
Assistant coach Fabiana Alcala will temporarily take over responsibility for the team.
